I love the silliness and I bet the actors all had a bunch of fun filming this!!! Was super easy to connect to the message and the characters, and I wasn't bored at any point which is hard to do for an almost 3 hour film

Also my brother was studying computer engineering and he used to mess up cameras and other mechanical stuff at home because of his curiosity which was annoying but this movie made it okay. Sometimes the songs make the movie, other times the songs are there just cause and sometimes it's a perfect blend. If you liked this movie, I definitely recommend Dangal, a sports genre but amazing storytelling. Jawan is a newer movie with a good message too and its action based and then there is veer zaara or kal ho na ho which are considered early 00's classics

Similar to RRR and Bahubali: - KGF - Padmaavat (an epic poem brought to life, beautiful love story, might be a good idea to rope the Gek Girls in for this one!) - Ponniyin Selvan (criminally underrated Tamil movie, featuring THE most beautiful woman in the world π. I'm currently reading the books it's based on.) 2. Similar to 3 Idiots: - Dil Chahta Hai (features Aamir Khan again, Rancho's actor) - Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara - Rang De Basanti (again has Aamir Khan) 3. Actually, you'd be safe watching anything starring Aamir Khan from 2001 to 2016 π , especially: - Talaash - Dangal - PK - Ghajini - Lagaan (great one but fair warning, a bit slow at times) 4. Other great movies to explore: - Kahaani (one of the rare Indian movies to have a female lead and to be an absolute banger) - Raazi (same comment as above) - Pink - 12th Fail - Maharaja (QUITE gory) - Stree (horror comedy, therefore cautiously recommended! π ) 5. And finally, some goated Indian series to delve into: - Sacred Games (one of my all-time favourite series, it's so good!) - Farzi (also very, very good, and not long, with only 1 season of 8 episodes) Aaaaand that's it for my wishlist, I think! π Got most of it covered! π

In my country, we speak a mix of Creole, English, French and the Indian language Bhojpuri, and foreigners are always like, "It's weird, I can understand you, but at the same time, I cannot!" π

I've actually been in the "drastic mark drop from 94% to 91%" situation, felt incredibly vindicated when Rancho laughed at Farhan's father in that scene! π I wasn't really sure whether you'd like the movie - the quirkiness and sudden tone shifts do take some getting used to, and many of the Hindi jokes do not translate well. That Chatur speech and his Sanskrit poem had the whole theatre howling with laughter, and to this day, my siblings and I still quote parts of it! π€£ I'm so glad to see how much you loved the movie and how the characters gradually grew on you, and kudos to you for following along so well! β€οΈ On to the next one! πͺπΌ

I do it all the time too just like everyone else but it was funny watching it through your new eyes for once lol. You guys getting shocked every time it happened, was hilarious. Btw fun fact- India is the 2nd largest english speaking country in the world after USA so it's way more common than you think. Also everyone here speaks at least 3 languages so there's that too. Apparently, and I could be wrong, but 3 Idiots is very famous in South Korea. School kids are shown this movie. I'm not sure though. Do delve more into Aamir Khan (Rancho's actor). All his movies are awesome. Best are PK and DANGAL. Such fresh and innovative concepts in both of them.

Just like you guys I'm also a fan of movies where not a single minute is wasted and everything, even the goofy scenes happen for a reason and especially if all of it gets tied around to a full circle with every character having their own fulfilled arcs and my favorite Indian movie with that kind of plot is ANDHADHUN (ANDHA- Blind, DHUN- Tune). That movie kept me on my toes the entire time. It's a crime and psychological thriller. A mindfuck basically. I was blown away by how good it was. I KNOW for a fact that you guys would love it. Every minute of it was crazy. Another movie I absolutely love and would recommend is LUDO- where four crazy nutty and hilarious plots tie together to a beautiful chaos. It's so funny. You'll enjoy it a lot.

2025-06-27 14:29:22 +0000 UTCSaw some commenters down below expressing that they can't stand the acting in Indian films, which is a fair take, but I don't think it's a good idea going into these movies with western lenses and expecting them to play out, even the acting, the same way as in the west. I think India found its niche in this form of over the top storytelling, opting for a more grandiose and escapist route than being grounded in realism. Not to mention the musicals in the middle which if you're not used to them can trip you up lmao. But India has a variety of movies I hear and you're bound to find the acting you're used to if you explore their collection(I've only watched a handful, all with this style). Maybe some Indian movie enthusiasts can name a few. I'm not Indian myself and grew up watching American movies for most of my life, only expanding to other countries over the past few years, but I must pay my respects to India because they've produced some of the most memorable and heartfelt films I've watched. So if this wasn't to anyone's liking, give it another shot with a different perspective, and if it still ain't doing it for you, thanks for trying it out anyway. At the end of the day it's not gonna suit everyone's tastes and that's understandable.

I read somewhere down that someone left a negative comment saying this movie is bad and no wonder why it's not popular elsewhere. actually π€ Hindi movies have been been popular in many asian countries outside of India and even in Africa! my parents and many other African people used to have cassettes of Indian movies because it was so popular in the 70s 80s and the following decades! even my family still has one and I grew up watching them. the theatrical vibe can be off putting to some people but it's admirable how many artists come together in dance sequences and also how much they put into their craft, so I'd suggest people be open minded first

I dont watch much anymore but the term 'Indian movies' is generalised. within Indian movies you have different regional movies like Tamil movies Telugu movies, etc., and, you have Bollywood movies, which are the most popular but South Indian movies are becoming more popular. if you're waiting for Cillian Murphy type of movies, then obv you will not get it from Bollywood movies. I'm not even Indian but what I said above is basic knowledge. you can't really compare acting to Hollywood for example, actors are trained differently and audiences expect different things.

I first watched it with my mom as a kid and enjoyed it, but didn't really comprehend the weight of its messages, back then I just laughed at the comedy bits. Seeing it again as an adult now is completely different bro I cried buckets ππ. So much heart, wisdom and creativity packed into 3 hours. What a great experience.

The last fight from Weak Hero seems to be inspired from that. The style in that movie is off the charts and the soundtrack is awesome. Also Part II is better than I in the duology.
