For me water 7 storytelling is better than Alabasta and Skypiea not bcs I’m more attached to the crew. Water 7 is S tier storytelling imo (except for the train part) because of the structure, the build up of conflicts, the revealing, the connection of dots, everything just so good. Alabasta and Skypiea, story wise, are relatively simple compared to water 7.

I think your post-arc review is really in line with the rest of the fandom, Water 7 is rated higher as an arc for its atmosphere and consistency but EL has some of the most peak moments of One Piece. Together, it's by far the best saga of the series so far. As an aside I feel like Jack has been very entertaining as the guide/guy who has seen it. I'm usually not interested in people's rewatches but One Piece is such a nostalgia hammer that it's been really interesting seeing him go through it again

There used to be some big cut of the whole Luffy vs Lucci fight on youtube years ago. A shame it's not there anymore because I'd have invited you to watch it otherwise. From what I remember the fight literally lasts a whole hour. The main issue in comparison to the other fights is that this one isn't divided into 2-3 big blocks of scenes like the the previous ones. When you actually get to see the whole thing at once it's such a crazy trip. I've watched a lot of fighting anime with amazing choreography but this one just takes the cake for me. Even Dragon Ball of which I am a huge fan gets outclassed by this specific fight. It has it all man, the animation, the music, the buffed drippy antagonist, the dbz sound effects, the superspeed, the elasticity of Luffy that gives us amazing choreography, the flying around for Lucci, the new powers, the back and forth and the desperate emotional final attack. Literal cinema.

A lot of people prefer Enies Lobby because after watching 1000 episodes, most people tend to remember the absolute highs of previous arcs rather than the lows Imo tho, W7 easily had the best atmosphere, setting, and side characters (Iceberg, Franky, Tom)

Yes I think I see what you mean, the moment where Lucci tells Usopp to prepare himself, which adds an important pause and silence in the whole scene just for Luffy to interrupt that silence and to appear. Here they immediately shift to Luffy appearing behind Lucci while the music is playing. Definitly a weird choice that doesn't maky any sense except to like gain a few seconds more, which is just ridiculous. At this point I'm not sure I'd advize them to watch the rest of One Piece in One Pace to begin with. If it cuts out the good parts as well as the bad parts I feel like it's not worth it man. They messed with the Lucci flashback and the fight between Lucci and Luffy several times too. Like you said nothing huge but man these moments just added to the peak.
