I am super (!!) late to this reaction video, but I just wanna say you guys had me cracking up during some of those fights. Even though you weren't a fan of them, your commentary (specifically Carter and Mckay) had me dying. I hate that One Pace cut the Chopper roar, I would have suggested to watch that scene OG if I had looked ahead, but alas, One Peak Week was so crazy I'm only like halfway done hahaha. Thanks again for this crazy amount of uploads!

Completely agree. Been loving the rewatches recently because I've learnt to understand the show more fully. It's crazy how many things have been written with a reason. The "obvious" plot advancement is always cool, but this show is special because there are so many tiny threads, even hidden in some of the comedy. And it becomes a masterpiece when you start to piece together the bigger picture, notice all the foreshadowing, and understand the relationships and opinions of each main character.

One pace has removed some content without context. For example, you suddenly see robin lying on the stairs, the anime shows how spandam kicked her. It's quite bad editing.

One Piece fights are definitely the weakest part of the show. They were also the aspect of the show that I enjoy least, regardless of how good they are, because I like the adventure/mystery aspect of the show more. But the fights do get better as the show goes one (there’s still some bumps in the road but like they locked in since 2020)

If you’re referring to goofiness when you were wondering “how WIT is going to do this”, WIT studios have done a few anime were there’s a decent amount of silliness involved, ‘the great pretender’ and the currently airing ‘Yaiba’ are the first ones that comes to my head. Most of the anime WIT does these days is more positive than dark. Now that I think about it Yaiba is actually pretty damn silly haha IYKYK.

When I first watched One Piece, I wanted to catch up and know everything so bad that I didn't enjoy anything that didn't advance the plot. It took me far too long through the show to realise that shouldn't be the goal, you should just be enjoying whatever part you're up too. I feel like some of the Geks maybe more McKay sometimes are a bit like that too. I'm not gonna tell you guys how to to watch the show nor am I gonna insist I'm right here. But I will offer a piece of advice. All of this that's going on is the point. When you actually let yourself find enjoyment in whatever antics are happening even if it's not immediately plot advancing, the show becomes so much fun. And I'm finding that on my rewatch more and more, where gimicks I too hastily wrote off are actually quite enjoyable when I'm not dismissing them. Not to say that you'll be fans of every gimmick, or they're all good (e.g. the ramen fight that shit fucking sucks lmao) but just don't get too caught up in catching up to all the peak you've heard about that you forget to enjoy the present. Don't be like me Geks, if you let yourself enjoy some of the absurdism or the non linear advancements, you'll see so much to appreciate in it and a breath of fresh air in it. To each their own.
