Why is T-Bone so ugly? I'll tell ya Because this whole setup is contradictory. We are technically "evil" pirates on our way to fight the "good" World Government. T-Bone is a character who looks like he should be evil but is shown to be someone who is so good that he almost doesn't belong with the World Government and what they are doing here. Zoro pretty much killed a good man, as an "evil" pirate, when we are on our way to fight the "good" World Government. Don't judge a book by its cover, or in this case, characters by their titles, allegiances or appearances. The altercation with T-Bone is the perfect summary/opener for the Straw Hat's war with the World Government.

2025-06-19 14:41:37 +0000 UTCalso guys since most of you think W7 and EL arcs are basically 1 arc for their shared storyline and sequence just wanted to say in the future you'll come across more arcs that do tend to feel like this, although its always been present (barroque works started in ep62 and ended on ep120, but all the arcs in between were mostly a lead/build up for alabasta). These are usually just categorised and judged as Sagas more so than Arcs.

2025-06-19 05:52:46 +0000 UTCalso also ik its not everyones taste, but i genuinely love one piece humor so much - usopp hiding behind robin in the train car always has me cracking up 😂 and the continued quiet calls for usopp to return to the strawhats via multiple characters is both sweet and hilarious imo. really i like most one piece gags in general, with the exception of a few - p.s. i actually really like that odas not afraid to make goofy looking characters, and that there can be good and bad people that aren't conventionally attractive like the typical 'aura farmers' in most stories - t-bone def looks a little strange but he doesn't need to look cool to warm the hearts of his comrades with how much he cares for them despite his scary face, and i love to see that 🫶🏻 imo we get plenty of conventionally attractive/cool looking characters (ex: zoro/lucci) and i appreciate the diversity

2025-06-19 05:45:56 +0000 UTCalso in regards to wanze and why oda has a tendency towards one particularly goofy character per arc, i feel like it kinda relates back to why he made luffy somewhat of a goofy mc with a strange power like rubber - i believe he mentioned at one point that while he considered more serious character concepts before, he ended up changing things around a bit because he couldn't forsee himself sticking with such a character for the long term. aka i think as much peak as oda had in his head, he also wants the opportunity to have fun with his stories in the process
