I love MHA it’s my favorite anime. No other anime has put me in the feels the same way. No other anime has made me love or atleast understand each character’s motivations. I will never understand the hate this show gets. It’s fine if it’s not your vibe but to call it mid and childish is so lazy because the show has never been that. They are definitely meant to be watched together, they even have matching episode titles, and the episodes just build up so well when watched together. MHA definitely delves into dark areas. S3 is really the beginning of how serious this world and story actually is. There ARE consequences for an event or incident that happens in society, and they don't shy away from that. They talk about it, or rather Izuku from the future talks about it. But at the same time, MHA balances that darkness with the amount of wholesome interaction btw the cast of characters. The two hero classes form friendships, they grow and learn as we follow their journey as fledgling heroes. We FEEL their development, SEE them learn from their mistakes, LAMENT their loses from our seats, and more importantly CELEBRATE their victories and successes with them together. Which is why we relate to them so much and feel for their every action, emotion and thought. MHA does so well in this aspect, and I have no doubt that you guys will thoroughly enjoy what's in the future.

MHA watch order goes (ideally + reasons): Season 3 -> Season 4 -> Season 5 (Ep 1 to 12) Movie 2: Heroes Rising Season 5 (Ep 13 to 25) -> Movie 3: World Heroes' Mission Season 6 -> Season 7 (Ep 1-4) -> Movie 4: You're Next Season 7 (Ep 5-21) Something to note is that Studio Bones messed up the order of the arcs in the second half of S5. So originally, the last two arcs should have been in the opposite order from what is presented in the anime. Just for you guys to know, movie 2's events are supposed to happen after the last arc in S5 (which was supposed to come before the second arc of S5). And accordingly, movie 3's events are supposed to happen during the second arc of S5 (which was supposed to come after the last arc of S5).

Idk if y'all noticed, but when Muscular crushes Izuku into the ground and he loses the fight of strength, he's fully expecting to die. It's why he apologised to his mother over and over in his head, and to All Might as well. But when Kota distracts Muscular by spraying water on him, Izuku is able to bring himself back from the brink, and it's shown through the way light enters his eyes again. The green light comes back, and he uses that chance to pour everything he still has left in him to overpower Muscular. Also, when Izuku says "1000000%", he's also not actually drawing out more than what One For All allows. Iirc, he says that more to hype himself up/drag his body beyond its limits to defeat his enemy. Just like how All Might drew out more than 100% of his power in the fight against Nomu in S1, Izuku did the same to break down Muscular's defences and get past them to punch him somewhere vulnerable. It's not REALLY a quantifiable amount aka however many extra zeroes you put behind 100%, but more of a symbol of how he broke the limit on what his body could handle just to defeat Muscular.

I always forget how emotional this fight is. Muscular VS Izuku is one of those fights that make you realise once again how well MHA emotional points hit. The lump in the throat is so real, I keep tearing up towards the end. Everything was perfect, from the voice acting (thank you Yamashita Daiki for doing an amazing job as Izuku) to the direction, to Kota's involvement from the second episode to the fourth, to the fight and the villain. Muscular is one of the scariest villains this far into MHA, so I def feel your sentiments on how intimidating he is. Also! Animation was done so spectacularly in this. I always love when Izuku's eyes go brilliant GLOWING green.

i always choke up watching deku go hard for kota, it's just simple words but meant a million things and held so much weight. one of my favorite episode/scene. people say mha is too simple and not that peak, but i truly believe the writers did such a good job on making a hero focused series. as kids we all grew up watching hero's and the appreciation for hero's in your everyday life, like those who saved someone from drowning,etc. it's real and pulls out those emotional feelings out of you. it shows how hero's actually have crazy impact and the writing for the hero scenes are so emotional, it feels like im there. imagine getting saved like that or saving someone like that😮‍💨 really enjoyed this series. this reaction and episode was so good, i actually cant wait for the next upload !

For me, what makes My Hero so good to watch is the fact it’s so earnest in itself as a superhero story. The genre has been around for so long that over time it’s sort of lost itself and became a bit of a parody. It’s fine for the genre to explore different sides to superheroes, but the original tenet of the genre was meant to be uplifting, inspiring and sincere. From Marvel to DC to independent stories, the genre kinda lost itself a bit by attempting to convey harsher lessons that are almost all slightly jaded and dour. A lot of that is in part of the zeitgeist changing in our society as time went on. We’re more critical and aware, so we’d like stories that reflect that. Which is great, but we shouldn’t forget to be positive I feel. So when every other superhero story feels like it’s trying to evoke meanness, disguising itself as “realistic” or “grounded”, it feels dissatisfying and kinda boring. You kinda forget what the genre was originally like. My Hero channels that original superhero principle. It wants to be heartfelt and sincere, and it feels great. For me anyway.

This is one of those episodes that reminds you why Studio Gek are your favorite reactors man. Sometimes when watching other reactors it feels like they don’t feel as connected with the show and the emotional impact of scenes. Sometimes it feels like some reactors are trying to react like intentionally in certain ways or more focused on what they say exactly rather than just giving their true raw emotions. The best part of the Geks is that it almost feels like they can forget they are recording sometimes - in the best of ways. It feels like you’re really just there watching a show with them. It feels how I felt when I first watched a lot of these scenes. Especially as a guy with friends who just happen to not watch anime - this is how I wish my homies would react if they actually gave it a true try ahaha. Such a great episode and reaction just makes me so ridiculously hype for some later in the seasons moments as well as the absurdity of just how good the past few new seasons are. I’ve said before even tho this is obviously such a ridiculously popular global show - I legit now think it’s somehow in my underrated level of anime’s. The past 3 seasons especially 6 and 7 have been so unbelievably well done it deserves more glaze than krispy creme. Feel like after the first few seasons and because of some of the initial annoying fan base - a lot of people dismissed is as like a mid to high tier popular shounen. But now on rewatch and after seeing how great the build and settup was of all these arcs and characters unfolding in the later seasons - I think it’s truly one of the best shounens ever especially in terms of consistency in production quality and underrated side cast + villains. Bro this is the episode. THIS IS THE EPISODE. My body's trembling, my hands feel numb. I feel light headed. This is the true definition of my hero. "Don't get scared." "Don't think." "You have no choice but to fight and win right here, right now!" This episode encapsulates everything I love about this show and about Midoriya. He will sacrifice his arm, his future, his life, EVERYTHING, just to save the person next to him. Why? WHY??? BECAUSE THATS WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A HERO. THATS WHAT HE'S BEEN AIMING FOR ALL HIS LIFE. For crying out loud man, the guy was saying sorry to his MOM cause he thought he was about to die. He was crying out All Mights name in his head as he was losing consciousness. LIKE COME ON MAN. HE'S 15. FIF. TEEN. No child should have to go through that much physical and mental pain. BUT HE DOES IT ANYWAY. HE DOES IT A.N.Y.W.A.Y. BECAUSE HE WANTS TO SAVE THE LIFE OF THE BOY NEXT TO HIM. Like I can't man. I CANT. I got tears in my eyes. This episode gets me fked up man. It gets me fked up every single time. Every. Single. Time. Midoriya Izuku deserves all the love. This episode and this fight are my favourite in the whole show. It might not be the flashiest or most cinematic or even have the most at stake BUT my god it portrays the essence of this show so well. That final moment. Mandalay’s words echoing in Kota’s head, telling him that one day he'll find someone who'll risk their life to save him. And now, here he is... a bloodied and broken teenager who just threw himself into hell for a kid he barely even knows. Kota in a state of confusion and shock, trying to understand why. Why would Midoriya do all that? And then it clicks. That’s what Mandalay meant. That’s what it means to be a hero. The person next to him, that’s HIS hero. And then finally - Midoriya, barely standing, shouting at the top of his lungs after a near death experience. "Boku no hero" My hero. It's absolutely beautiful. I'm sorry for yap, I just can't help but gush when it comes to this episode. Don't hold back next time Geks. Let it flow.

Invincible and the Boys are very cynical shows, they're really using the superhero genre to critique society in some way or make a larger point. My Hero is really a loveletter to the American comic book genre, and it's honestly refreshing to see a superhero portrayed as really heroic and for that to be the norm rather than the exception. It's inspiring honestly, this show always makes me feel like I can do better.

We can't exactly say this is a 'kids show'(like Jack said young adult lol); it's catered to the same demographic as viewers as AOT, JJK and basically almost all the other series you've watched. it's shonen, which targets young/teen boys (i think the range is 12-18) MHA just seems 'kiddy' because of the saturated colors, character design, and the nature of the heroism.

I will go on a bit of a rant. I think one aspect of MHA that separates it from other pieces of superhero media is the fact that it is unashamed of being inspiring and heroic. Especially with how saturated the market is with parody and superhero satire like The Boys and Invincible, MHA just takes you back to the time when heroes were actually heroes. And it is so proud of the heroism it displays. Another thing is that it can be so personal. Like this episode, it is not even close to the scale other superhero shows usually go for. It is just a hero trying to save another kid from a villain. The world is not in danger, no aliens or worldwide threat, just a kid risking his life to save another kid. And it just hits. Another good example is Deku vs Todoroki. It is a school tournament, no stakes, no one will die and it still hits you with the themes and feels. Once again, just a kid trying to save his friend even if it means he loses the tournament. And it goes all in on it, never being ashamed or trying to divert, or trying to be edgy. It knows what it is and does it extremely well. Add to that the Bones animation, the absolutely stacked voice cast(maybe my favorite overall cast in any anime), the absolutely goated soundtrack by Yuki Hayashi, a massive and very well developed cast of characters, villains of every kind(from sypathetic, to absolutely insane, from villains with goals to ones that only want chaos), and you get one of the best and most entertaining shows you can find. Marvel and DC could actually take so much from MHA. Like, please just make Spiderman be the street-level hero he is supposed to be. Trying to save his neighborhood and friends from a local villain. You don't need word-ending threats every movie to make a heartfelt story and MHA is the perfect example of that.

One of the best episodes of the show. The performance from Daisuke Yamashita, Deku's voice actor, is one of my favorites in all of anime. Those screams are just insane. Also, Horikoshi Kohei, the creator of MHA cleared up the 1,000,000% thing. It is just a battle cry for Midoriya to go past his limits, like All Might using 120% of his power. It was not literally 1,000,000%, just a boost.

Told you season 3 was peak and undoubtedly best season. I can be honest and say some of the most peak action the show is 6 & 7 but it’s something about this season you will always hold close to your heart because it’s the turning point in the story and the emotion runs high. I know you’ll cry by the end of this season if you were on the verge here.

I totally agree. I’ve always been a Marvel fan, and I’ve definitely had that feeling of rooting for characters like Peter Parker and stuff — but something about Deku just hits different. I think what really gets me is how he was told his whole life he couldn’t be a hero, and instead of giving up he pushes forward just because he wants to help people. It’s not about being the strongest, it’s about his heart. It shows what it really means to be a hero even when everything is stacked against you. That kind of perseverance and selflessness is what I think makes this show so special to me

The last marvel movie i watched was Deadpool 3 but i think the difference between this and my hero is that this show does have more heart to it and inspiration like you guys said. I think marvel tends to concentrate more on superhumanism, and cool fights against the villians. Apart from the first avengers movie and civil war, they never really explored the underlying themes of heroism or like the civilians who get hurt, and even that got overshadowed by Iron man vs Captain America. Not saying that marvel is shallow or terrible in not exploring this more i think their goal was about expanding the universe like the comics (like the infinity stone saga) whereas my hero follows a kid who was weak and quirkless trying to make people feel safe and happy despite all the danger. I just find myself rooting and feeling more for Deku rather than a god like Thor, it's like if Steve Rogers never got the serum and instead we followed his journey into how he became Cap or he gets the serum and his body can't handle but he still tries his best despite everything, that's what my hero excels at :)

I agree I think people love the characters in this show so much caus they are epic, powerful characters but they are also all flawed in different ways which makes them more relatable. So you root for them so much more and celebrate their wins and feel the losses more too. You need stakes on shows like these.
