What I find funny about Iceberg is that he’s technically running a corporate monopoly AND holding all the political power. Oda does like his enlightened despots (I don’t mind it in fictional settings either, I am a Discworld fan after all). I really love seeing the different constellations with the characters too! The different ways they split up gives you a lot of different dynamics between them, showing different aspects of their character. This goes for every arc, I always look forward to seeing how they’re going to be grouped. I get it about Franky’s voice, honestly. They sound a little too alike, especially as the voice is so distinct. It doesn’t bother me too much, and he’s a great voice actor, but yeah. I think that Nami 1000% would not want a romantic relationship with Luffy, lol. And Luffy hasn't ever considered it. But eh, shipping is for fun, so I'm not going to get on anyone's case for liking it (and I have my own ships anyway, I love that stuff). I like Oda's stance of not putting anything in canon though, it just doesn't fit the vibe of the series.

17:18 Carter and Jack see the vision 💯 I loved the spiderman and MJ reference from Carter 🤣, literally fits them so well. I think they’d be great together, they balance each other out so well. He’s reckless and an idiot, she’s grounded and smart. He’s the captain, she’s the navigator. They’re sorta like an old married couple to me, they bicker sometimes and she hits him but they obviously care for each other a lot. It’s a fun dynamic and romantic or not it will always be peak 💯 The hat symbolises a big part of their bond too. When he entrusted his hat to her to comfort her and basically say “put your trust in me”. This moment means more when you think about how she had recently stolen the merry and was a thief who STEALS from PIRATES. He gave his most precious treasure to her knowing that, he trusts and believes in her wholeheartedly. Then again in drum island, and again in skypeia he gives it to her. The skypeia scene is great too because we see Nami gripping onto the hat and saying “I’m gonna borrow your courage Luffy”. He inspires her to be courageous and fight enel, bringing out the best in her. She also fixes the hat for him which is cute. They have a great foundation if they ever do become more than friends. Obviously focused on the adventure for now though no doubting that. PS, Luffy did get a nosebleed from her during the bath scene in Alabasta 👀 Anyways not tryna have a ship war or fight anyone. If you like them that’s great, if not that’s cool too everyone has their own opinion :)

I definitely understand Cannon's frustration with the crew not knowing anything about Robin and it's definitely frustrating for viewers who are dying to know more about a character's backstory lol, but Luffy not caring/wanting to know about his friend's past and trusting them no matter what he hears honestly makes him such a special character to me. He's always been extremely emotionally intelligent about knowing who people are and what they need (like actively avoiding hearing about Nami's backstory from her sister and then waiting for her to directly ask him for help), and he isn't someone you ever need to explain or justify yourself to bc he can tell what kind of person you are presently. Luffy really is just vibes; if he likes/respects you even for the simplest thing, you've earned his friendship for life and he'll do anything for his friends without knowing the reason.

LMAOO That's definitely the most hot take that's been said on the couch😂. I really love Franky's voice, one of my top favorite voices in the show. And I think most of the fandom would agree. Him and Bon Clay does have the same voice actor, but you can tell the difference in tone between Bon Clay and Franky. One's more feminine and the other more masculine. And Franky's VA was the one that inspired Oda to make the character. I definitely believe you'll start to notice the difference in the voice as the arc continues and maybe your opinion will change 🤷🏾‍♀️ Would love to see that ❤️

Not a hot take Carter. While it's been a long time since I've finished this arc (10 years or so), I think I also found Bon Clay/Franky's voice distracting. BUT, roughly halfway through the arc, I started liking his voice a lot. Kazuki Yao (Franky's VA) really does give life and energy to his characters, and it'll start to grow on you I'm sure, Carter. The way he voice acts Bon Clay and Franky are very different. While the tone is the same because that's just how his voice sounds, Bon Clay had a more feminine nuance to his speech. Franky on the other hand has a bit of a ruffian style to it. Hope this makes sense 😅Let Kazuki cook! Trust! Funny you guys mention the voice actors likely being reused for side characters, etc. As I'm rewatching this with you guys, I noticed so many voice actors, especially from the Straw Hat crew, being used as background characters. If I recall, I heard Zoro, Sanji, and Usopp just shouting random stuff in towns throughout the show lol.

I feel like one might equate it to 'Grandma' vs 'Grammy'/'Grams' or something? And I don't think that Sanji actually cares more about losing Robin than Usopp! One of the big differences between their losses right now is that everyone saw what happened with Usopp and knows why he's left and how he feels, meanwhile Robin was acting as she always does and just having a nice trip out with Chopper before she just up and disappeared. No one has any insight into what's happening or what she's thinking, and she's now committed a crime no one saw coming out of nowhere - so whereas they're now trying to respect Usopp's space, they likely feel the need to chase after Robin for answers at least, if nothing else

What's fun about W7 is how mysterious and secretive everything is, so the amount of episodes makes it hard to gage exactly what can possibly happen next and how Enies Lobby gets into the picture. I personally think Nami and Luffy feel more like siblings while she and Zoro feel like an old couple; it's the way they argue with each other. As for the hot take, I understand it, but I never had that issue for some reason. I've had other characters that did make it hard for me to dissociate, but here, the tone shift felt right enough for me not to even think about Bon Clay whenever Franky speaks. It might also be because Bon Clay didn't have that big of an impact on me when I first saw him, so for me, Franky's voice was just Franky's voice.
