This is so silly, but I love the absolute aura of Detroit Smash as a local. I know this isn't the point, but Detroit is such an amazing and underrated city. I wouldn't call it a prime destination if you're travelling, but, if you happen to find yourself in the area, there are absolute gems and a culture unlike any other. Great movie! Im excited to start season 3. I love the double punch with Deku and All Might. It took the second time around to notice Dave acting suspicious. When I first watched it last night I thought he was depressed, but after watching it's easy to see he was acting odd. I liked Melissa. She and Deku are definitely the next generation. I hope we get to see her again at some point. I'd like to see her building him some cool costumes and gear.

This movie is such a good look into All Might's relationship with his friend David. The fact that their friendship lasted so long and so close is such a great contrast to All Might's normal loner life. We may not see it, but him saying that carrying the weight of One For All would put the ones around him in danger makes it pretty obvious how much distance he has to put btw him and his already few friends. If Dave had known why All Might's power was declining so quickly, this entire movie probably wouldn't have happened. But in any case, I very much agree with what was said during the discussion. All Might and Izuku VS Wolfram was an amazing fight. Esp towards the end when they teamed up while still showing off their individual combat abilities. Izuku and All Might running at almost the same speed, with the same posture and movements, and their backs both facing the screen - that shit makes me tear up all the time. You Say Run playing in the back really hammers home the sheer heroic quality of their teamwork and relationship, which makes their student-teacher dynamic even more wholesome and epic. Crazy good movie, that's for sure. I can't wait for S3 to drop (it's one of my favourites JWHBHJQB)

I think the best way to look at the MHA movies is that they are their own thing secluded away from the main story and that they are then afterwards made canon by the mangaka by referencing the events/contents of the movie in later manga chapters. The only role mangaka horikoshi had in the film was a General Surpervisor, he didn’t write any of it nor was any of the story apart of or referenced in the manga before hand.

Bruh why does the dub or even the subtitle translators change the dialogue so much, they even go ahead and change lines like “there’s going to be a bunch of strangers there I don’t know” to “there’s just going to be old geezers there”. It’s weird and just changes the context and vibes of the scene/show if they do it so often 😭. Deku is a first year in Japanese high school, so most people in his year would be 15-16 years old. Deku is 15 at this time. In Japan they have middle school and high school that goes for 3 years each. Students start middle school at age 12 and High school at age 15.

For me, as someone who finished both series, I prefer Gojo and his themes more. Just like Jack cant feel a personal connection to Gojo, I cant with All Might. Hes a great character for sure, like any other in MHA, I just feel MHAs side characters more. Also yeah movies are partially canon. They are referenced and mentioned in the main story but you are also good without them. Also EDIT: I also cant connect to Ghibli movies in general LMAO. They are very well animated but I only like 1-2 out of all their catalogues.

I really love this movie. I also love the contrast in characterisation of Quirklessness between Deku and Melissa. For Deku who always wanted to be a hero, and his mum who responded quite sadly for him when they discovered he was Quirkless, it was always about being "less than". It's also probably important to note here that the Japanese word for Quirk directly translated actually means "personality". So when they call someone Quirkless, they actually are saying "No Personality". It's an importan part of who a person is, and so societal understanding in Japan absolutely did no favours for Deku. Meanwhile you have Melissa in contrast, who also admired heroes and wanted to potentially be one as a kid. When she found out she was quirkless, she had a supportive enough environment to turn her want to be a hero into "let science help me help heroes, and I can be a hero that way". It's a great way to show that someone can succeed even if they don't have what 80% of people have.

To be honest you guys should have watched this at least half way through season 3 because the movie released after S3 ep17 aired and as a result at least one reveal was spoiled for you. I haven’t really checked the commenter’s lists for the watch order placements, but just to be safe I recommend you guys check the movie release dates before you watch them to make sure you watch all the anime episodes that air before it, because anime movies tend to include content that’s up to somewhat up date with the manga around that time.

Also as far as “Cannon” goes all three movies contain characters that are referenced or shown as panels in the manga that is pretty much the extent of the canon. They will not ever mention the final villains or any fight that occurred either. It does kind of suck but because of the movies it allows certain things to happen with certain characters that were not possible in the actual story. For some characters I think the best moments we see of them are in these movies.

I was also under the impression that the movies were just filler/non-canonical side stories so I didn't watch them until last year, so I could watch the newest one (You're Next) when it came out in theatres. The movies are so amazing and do a great job of introducing new characters/villains while balancing out being an entertaining side story and still looping back to the main story. Just a suggestion for future anime movies, if there is an option to do so, please use the English subtitles that isn’t [CC] becuase the English [CC] is just the dub dialogue, not the jp speaking translations. Pretty sure people say not to watch the movies because they're technically "cannon" with small callbacks here and there in the main series, but generally don't change or add anything. There is only ONE thing that actually matters that gets tied into the main story and it's from this movie, but the others barely have any influence if any at all. With that said the 2nd movie is my favorite. The last fight is like 100x more hype than this ones, so if you liked this get ready for some actual peak.

When Allmight and Deku double detroit smashed and hit those poses, everyone was screaming and yelling with sheer hype. Guys it's less about anime studios and more about animators that are contracted to work on these animes. I know it sounds obvious but it just irks me when people go 'Thank you MAPPA' or stuff like that because we need to thank the animators and not these studios (not saying you've done that). That being said in my personal opinion the GOATs of anime studios are: - MADHOUSE (the amount of quality shows they've produced in all genres is insane) - KYOTO Animation - GHIBLI - GAINAX (the now defunct studio that gave us Neon Genesis Evangelion)

what I like about this first movie is that even though bakugou still has his crazy outbursts, we can see his soft sides here like him saying thank you to kirishima and smiling watching all might and deku fight (but todoroki saw him and he wiped the smile off quick hahah). kirishima has that great personality and doesn't seem to take things serious (he's also really outgoing) it was nice seeing his friendship grow with bakugou from season 1 ! kirishima's personality is kinda like he will insert himself and tag along with bakugou even if he crashes out haha also the fact he can harden himself to protect against bakugou's blast shows how well he can handle bakugou's crazy outbursts (for example the olympic match) 😂

Guys, just fyi, it isn't always about the studio. It's about the staff, the director, the key animators and etc. What yall loved about this movie is influence from one of the best animators in the industry that works a lot for Bones. But yeah Bones is consistent, but what takes shows to another levels is the quality of the whole staff, directors and their networking to get great people in the project.
