Guys, you do see what's happening here right: Beomseok (David) isn’t just passively accepting bullying or preferring it over Suho’s assertiveness—it’s far deeper than that. His entire behaviour stems from the fact that he's never experienced real care or healthy relationships. Being adopted and abused both at home and in school, Beomseok lacks any internal model of love, friendship or trust. His life has been shaped by neglect and cruelty, not affection or safety. So when Si-eun and Suho stand up for him, it’s overwhelming. These aren’t just classmates—they represent something he's never had: genuine connection. But because he’s been so broken by his past, he doesn’t believe he deserves that kind of goodness. When Suho and Si-eun discover his past, Beomseok assumes they’ll reject him, so he sabotages the relationship first; a classic act of self-protection rooted in trauma. Everything before that–him feeling left out because of Yeong-i joining the trio–was all leading up to this. That convo with Si-eun and Suho in front of the convenience store is so important because BOTH of them are right: David initially sought out Suho and Si-eun to feel powerful and important, to escape the invisibility he’s always known. But he's also exactly what S-eun recognised him to be: lonely. So when they witness his "weakness" (in his mind), he feels exposed and worthless again, like the "loser" he's always believed himself to be. In his eyes, there's no going back from that kind of vulnerability. Even how his first instinct in getting them out of that situation with Gilsu was to pay the gangster off: be the hero so that Suho and Si-eun will stay friends with him. Anyway, it's all so heartbreaking and annoying but I can understand him...which makes everything so much worse! You guys are right, if only they talked it out!!!

i think it's more of a cultural nuance. The saying "죽을래?" (jugeullae?) / "Do you want to die?" mostly used when you wana express disbelief or surprise. Not meant literally, but just a strong, dramatic way to emphasise one's feelings..akin to saying "are you kidding me?!" but with more intensity.

The boys seem to be pretty surprised when the characters say phrases like "lets kill this person" or "do you want to die?". I am unfamiliar with Korean culture and linguistics so I don't know how common or how accepted these killing idioms are. But perhaps in North America, there is more severity and caution attached to phrases centered around killing because violence related deaths, such as fire-arm casualties, are more frequent. I couldn't imagine saying that I am going to kill someone in any context besides in games lol.

Totally agree with what you said. But I’d just add that Suho has his own things to work on. He’s a bit too violent — explained or not. He talks, unlike Beom Seok, but sometimes he just snaps and jumps to violence too easily. He needs to work on that. Telling someone to get in line and then pushing him against a table after he said he didn’t want to… I mean, yeah… but also no. Maybe it’s a hot take, but I think all three of them are mature in their own ways — they just each have things to work on. It becomes clearer with Si-eun in the next couple of episodes (in my opinion), but I’m not planning to spoil anything.

there is no justificiation to what David is doing...regardless of his past. this is a person who has not worked through his trauma cannot tell the difference between genuine friendships and those that are using him. I think we can all be clear on that. we can sympathise with him, I even like David as a character. he is deeply flawed and mirrors what a lot of hurt people do, they only continue the cycle of hatred. but we should not expect suho to be willing to ignore all that david's doing just because oh david's being bullied. suho is already a very mature character - he is only around 15 or 16 years old boy who works 3 jobs, is a attend school everyday because his grandmother told him to have a perfect attendance, and he is such a good friend, even when friends are being shitty. David has missed out on genuine friendships and it is HIS fault not his circumstances - he wasn't being bullied anymore, he had friends who didn't care about his money and bully him for money, he was okay at school BUT STILL MESSED IT UP. no coming back from that :// im not hopeful but a part of me wants them all to end as friends again

Man I can't contain my excitement for the last two episodes before we kick off with season 2 which is also a wild ride but is so fun! This show is such an emotional journey from start to end... It really makes you think a lot about things and how the human mind works and what it's capable of. The character's feelings are so relatable. It causes you to feel attached and connected to them in a way which makes it even more special. The acting is seriously one of the best I've seen in a Kdrama and I've seen quite a few. All of the cast did an outstanding job. So happy Weak Hero is on Netflix so, it can finally get all the love and respect it deserves. It's truly one of a kind. You can really tell all the cast put their heart and soul into their acting/character especially my boy, Park Jihoon. I love how he speaks with his eyes and his silent expressions. It's so powerful. I can't get over his acting in this show as the quiet, stoic, but very caring Sieun. He definitely is an unsung hero. He cares about his friends deeply.

Man, Episode 6 seriously messed me up emotionally. David’s story just hits different. You can tell he’s been through a lot—bullied, ignored by his dad, always feeling powerless. And then he finally finds people like Suho and Si-eun who genuinely care about him… and somehow he still ends up choosing the worst possible path. It’s frustrating because I don’t think he’s just a flat-out villain—he’s clearly broken and desperate to feel strong for once. But I definitely don’t condone what he did to Si-eun or the kidnapping. That stuff was seriously messed up and way beyond just feeling insecure. No matter how hurt you are, that’s not okay. Still, part of me wonders—was there ever a moment where someone could’ve reached him before it got this bad? Or was this just something building up all along?

This episode was also hard to watch cos for the first time we get to see the light leaving Suho's face. How he walks now is also different. He is HURT. And it runs deep - not loud or explosive ( or at least not yet ) . He's not just wounded by the accusations - he's betrayed by it. Because to him, he had never looked down on David. If anything, he lifted him up. Let him in. Protected him. So when David turns ard and throws alll that in his face, it cuts in a way a fists never could. His pain is the stunned kind of pain ..." is that what you think of me?" He’s not just hurt by David, he’s hurt for him too — for how far gone he must be to twist things like that. Will reassuring him makes a difference? Maybe yes, maybe not. But like some of you mentioned here, by the time he shit talked abt him, there is no turning back. He's already deep in his spiral. David didn't want the truth, he wanted a version of friendship where he felt superior or at least equal. Suho’s natural strength, charisma, and confidence unintentionally made David feel small. Even if Suho had said, “I see you as a real friend, I never looked down on you,” David internal narrative would probably twist that into condescension. This is the tragedy of David : he’s not the typical "bad guy"—he’s the kind of antagonist born from unaddressed trauma, envy, and a desperate need to matter. Suho was never the enemy, but to David, Suho represented everything he couldn't be.

I looove how this show actually helps me understand humans as a whole, better. As a student in psychology, it's very interesting to me, especially with David's development. We can see how things started, the intricacies in his mind, how his past influenced his morals, how the behavior of his dad also did, then how a small detail that you may overlook can actually be a big trigger for someone else, and how without something as simple as communication, that just needs some courage sometimes, things can turn out soooo much bigger than they should've. How easily simple misunderstandings can escalate. I've seen it in my own life and those of others, a simple weird glance or a word, even from a person with the best and most pure intentions can be interpreted into something so big and wrong, so quickly. Like, from absolutely silly little things. Even if at the beginning, all one might've needed was to dare ask, and to try to not overthink (tho that's hard when you have trauma, for sure). Of course, it's a show, but reality often works like that for many people. That's why communication is crucial, even if it can be scary. It can literally change eeeeverything. It's baffling. Sorry about the yap, I'm passionate about this it seems haha.

There are just too many things about this episode and reaction worth commenting on in length and I don't even know where to start so I'll just say I appreciate you coming around on Sieun. He was my fav since episode 1 because of how relatable he is and the actor perfectly portrayed that feeling of alienation from the the world, and how he made it worse for himself with his sullen demeanor which of course is a direct effect of depression. You're not sad, you don't feel any emotion at all, so you become indifferent to everything and just want to be left alone even if deep down you're a very caring person. To see him make friends and then for it to go badly like this is heartbreaking to say the least

He didn't want Si-eun involved, and maybe seeing him hurt after all that will be a wake up call. Extra points if Si-eun happens to still be understanding towards David even after all that. Ngl, I've never bought into the 'mastermind' David stance or anything like that - like I guess I can see why people might break things down that way? But imo the deep darkness dwelling under the surface isn't that he's some master manipulator who actually really knows how to use people or money to get what he wants, but more so that he's just a desperate kid fumbling his way through things in an attempt to get all the affection and validation he never received, cheap as it may be from the bullies

Carter was right at the end ! It's crazy how the main characters have a sense of morale and know what's right or wrong. I feel like the difference is that the bullies have some sense of pride and motivation to always come out as the "winner" which is why they are so eager and persistent to get what they want. Also they work in numbers, that persistence just grows and the pressure to complete those evil tasks just feeds off of one another. The bullies really work on "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" that's how they got beomseok and continue to get more people joining. Through the series im always wondering "where are their parents??" because I cant imagine having my kids be out this late doing God knows what😭😭

When I look at Sieun’s face, it always seems like he’s holding back tears. There’s this mix of innocence and quiet emotional depth that really gets to me. I just want to hug him and tell HIM that everything’s going to be okay. His dynamic with David is complex like Sieun can definitely read between the lines and feel that David needs support and tries to understand his struggles, but he can’t fully express it or talk to him about it. It’s like he carries the weight of understanding without the space to share it. Whenever I see Sieun’s face I remember my high school years lol, sometimes school can really be a shitty place for some people

What makes his fall so heartbreaking is that the red flags were always there but i ignored maybe because their trio felt real, or maybe because I wanted to believe the boy who just wanted to be understood was still somewhere in there But after ep 6, certain moments hit differently. The devil was truly in the details: Putting the fentanyl patch on Si-eun - this is one Using money to make others do what he wants which became a pattern - this is two His first crashes were against someone weaker than him, like the girl, classmates, and the bully boy who was trapped- that’s three. Also, when he refused to beat the thug after his father’s secretary told him to, it seemed like a moral stand. But then his father beat the shit out of him anyway, sending brutal messages: 1.Having morals won’t keep you safe. 2.When you have power, you use violence without facing consequences. I think that was a crucial moment in shattering his already unstable morals. What makes this show so devastating is that even at his WORST David still HESITATES. When Sieun is being beaten, you can see it in his face like he’s thinking “Not him. Not the only one who cared, the only one who ever asked if I was okay” But once again fear and cowardice take over and David chooses to run away He had many chances, but he chose betrayal instead. He’s no longer someone who could be saved, he might not even want to be. This show is something else..

I think logic doesn't really apply to David's mindset though. He's likely never had a healthy relationship in his life. He was being beat at school and at home. Never felt safe or was free to be himself anywhere. Constantly belittled and humiliated. So the second his insecurities started surfacing in his first healthy relationship (the friendship with Su-ho and Si-eun) he started lashing out at Su-ho. And then because of their communication issues like you've mentioned, it all inevitably blew up. I think David was always going to snap eventually

That convo about Beom Seok taking advantage of them/using them brought me back to the canteen scene in Ep 2, when Suho and Sieun were having lunch in the canteen. He overheard the other boys talking about Suho being an MMA master — how strong he is, yada yada. The way he was absorbing that info made me wonder if one of the reasons he wanted to get close to Suho was so Suho would have his back, and the bullies at his new school wouldn’t dare mess with him. 100% self-preservation, at least in that moment. But then it slowly warps into something murkier — power-by-proximity. It’s like he doesn’t just want to feel safe; he wants to feel in control. And Suho and Sieun unknowingly become his armor. Would love to hear your thoughts about this.

let me stop terrorizing this comment section with these long comments but it’s awesome to see you guys come around to liking sieun so much. suho is the one people jump to and like for obvious reasons. i mean he’s my favorite character and others for good reason he’s charismatic with a strong personality, fun, head strong and a great fighter with deeper layers as well if you’re willing to look for them so you’re drawn to him immediately but sieun is more of a slow build. his character development is there but slowly happens over the course of the season and suddenly you’ve grown attached to him. all the props to park jihoon. but i don’t even wanna talk about sieun because it will depress me. i feel so bad for that kid. he’s so stuck in the middle of it all. he understands what beomseok is feeling because he’s similar to beomseok in that way of feeling lonely and he understands that suho was hurt too, but he has no idea how to fix it with them. and when he sees that they’re clearly going to try to jump suho he decides to go instead - knowing that suho can take care of himself. he cares about his friends and about suho so much that he’s willing to go there knowing he’s gonna get his ass beat. he’s also probably thinking about the fact that suho got hurt recently and i don’t think suho told sieun the truth about what happened but he knows that he won’t be up to his usual standard of fighting. but i hate thinking about how much sieun has grown because we’re watching it in real time with him willing to get his ass beat in place of suho and to help get youngyi out of there but i could not have predicted when i watched this that his character development would be shown in this type of way and against beomseok 😭😭 and then they had to drive the hammer in more by showing suho wake up and see that he’s alone on his birthday because youngyi has disappeared and sieun is still not back yet. like the guy just got his brakes tampered with by someone he thought was his friend that has done a complete 180 out of nowhere on him and now he’s alone on his birthday because his friends have disappeared and he has no idea where they went. i can’t believe i’m writing so many comments i’m sorry to whoever had to scroll through all of them 😭😭

Sieun and Suho will always be my goat. This episode is so frusturating to watch. Ughhh Beomseok, why??? :-( Cutting someone's brakes is crazy and so evil. I don't blame Suho for being angry and hurt. And Sieun is such a loyal friend who cares more than he lets on. I love how he calculates his every move by using tools around him to take out his opponent since he's not skilled in fighting. I feel bad that Suho was left to eat his leftover pizza on his birthday alone. But I'm glad they protected him the way they knew how. That crowbar beating would be so painful along with the endless kicking and stomping... Eeeek. Sieun cares about Suho a lot. to me any chance of suho understanding beomseok ended when he shit talked him to sieun at the beginning of the episode. suho already doesn’t understand his abrupt switch up so of course suho is not going to want to fuck with him anymore after he blew up on him, is friends with the people that were bullying sieun (AND beomseok) and is now talking behind his back. like at this point from what suho has seen from beomseok i think it’s understandable for suho to think maybe he just wanted to be popular and was using them. because from an outside perspective of someone like suho who is failing to understand that it goes deeper than that it does look like that. and we’ve already had the discussion that yes suho is not entirely emotionally there enough to understand something is wrong like sieun does but beomseok also said nothing. it takes two to not communicate. it’s also just clear that suho doesn’t even fully believe what he’s saying either. even with sieun asking if he genuinely believes beomseok was just using them they go back to his face and he just looks defeated. he saw him as a friend and i think he would have wanted to try to make up that day at school because he asked if beomseok didn’t come to school that day before he saw that he was hanging out with those bullies. but i feel like suho is the type to feel that if you don’t wanna talk to him, then he won’t talk to you. if he doesn’t want to be his friend then he won’t be his friend either. and in suho’s eyes he’s dropped them for the popular crowd for no reason other than to be popular. i don’t even think suho is entirely wrong in the sense that beomseok just wants validation. he was getting the validation of them posting with him and tagging him and following him. hyping him up and calling him cool. beomseok does in fact feel lonely and he just wants friends who will make him feel validated so this feeling of being needed or being wanted and being popular feels good for him. obviously sieun sees it deeper than that and that’s why he can’t let it go or just accept that beomseok doesn’t want to talk to them anymore like suho does. and that’s what brings us to the lunch scene. this is the only thing in my opinion suho does that’s truly wrong. yes i think he could’ve went about what he does in this scene with pushing beomseok in a better way. but just like beomseok is letting his feelings to get the best of him so is suho! he literally says that he doesn’t get it in the scene. he doesn’t understand why beomseok is acting like this. he gives him a chance to stop and to just walk away. he literally looks at sieun like what am i supposed to do? i mean as soon as he pushes him and beomseok leaves he looks like he feels regret over it. but it sucks because i think for beomseok this does nothing but continue to make him feel like suho looks down on everyone and is this cocky, arrogant, asshole even more. but i’m not even going to lie to you it’s after this point that i truly have a hard time liking beomseok anymore 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ suho pushing him is no excuse for what he does with the brakes afterwards.
