See, when we feel inferior to someone, we tend to compare ourselves to lesser people to feel good about ourselves. It's called "social comparison", and some people just experience it much more severe that it plagues their minds. It creates fragile ego. In Bakugo's case though, he feels inferior to Deku so he acts superior to him to feel better. And like Carter said, Deku keeps being nice to him only pisses him off further cuz he feels looked down upon

Before we could comment, by the time the first season was dropped at once, they had already set the tone about how they felt about Bakugo. Cannon stated that he believed Bakugo would one day become his goat because he has thing for fire quirks. He kept telling the boys to keep “investing their stock” in him even as he was acting crazy with Deku. So I immediately felt more comfortable to share my love for the character every time they spoke about him a certain way with a new episode drop. I was surprised no one hated him (I’m discovering a lot of reactioners I follow didn’t hate him at this point either). Bottom line is, as much as they might be taking their cues from us, we’re also taking our cues from them. And they post before we have a thing to say.

People are so enthusiastic about a character they like that they want their character to be understood from first time watchers, but when there is plot significance, it's low-key annoying to see because chat is foreshadowing things and the suspense is already ruined during their reaction. They know what to root for, they can 'predict' how things will play out and feel the vibes of the patreon comments. It's like some guy predicting the Snape revelation or predicting Itachi's will. Happens a lot more these days with people reading comments and everyone just LOVES that character

After all, for One for All to continue getting passed on, each person has to inherit the ability to pass on their quirk. So younger brother could've just passed on his quirk to begin with, even without the stockpiling added in, it just would've given whoever he passed it on to the ability to pass their quirk on. With the stockpile quirk added to his though, it meant that it went from a simple transfer of power, it became an exponential transfer of power, making each successive holder stronger and stronger.

I also think he serves/served a great kind of hidden purpose in season 1. Midoriya is outcasted and seen as worthless just because of the reality and cruelty of this society - yet someone like Mineta is automatically accepted just for having a power regardless of what it is. I actually think this speaks volumes across cultures where lots of parralels can be drawn in real life. Anyway - no im not some Mineta supporter or fan but the people tryharding to hate him and say it ruins the show make me laugh. People these days find anything to rage about.

He basically was inspired by Bakugo so that’s where the resemblance comes from.

2025-05-29 01:59:04 +0000 UTCGonna just repost my comment from s2e12 once, because I think it answers their questions about Bakugo atm without any spoilers and I hope they read it. The thing about Bakugo is, that he got all his self worth as a child from other people telling him his quirk is awesome and that he will be a great hero because of it. We saw this in the Deku flashbacks. However even as a child he started feeling inadequate when Deku, the powerless kid, was acting more like a hero because Deku recognizes when people are in need of help and immediately acts on it. He doesn't realize it at the time, but Deku makes him so mad because it confronts him with everything that he isn't. Once he is then also confronted with people like Todoroki that have arguably even stronger quirks, even that doesn't make him feel good anymore and he is just angry that he is neither the strongest nor is he a kind and empathetic hero right now. Bakugo is basically just a very serious case of imposter syndrome. His entire life he is told he is amazing because of his quirk, something he was born with out of his control. As he grows up this becomes harder and harder for him to deal with, as he matures and realizes his shortcomings. Aizawa, All Might, and even some of the spectators at this point have pointed out multiple times that Bakugo is actually much more aware and thoughtful than he appears, not just in terms of battle IQ. Like you can see when Bakugo goes all out, he can create some absolutely ridiculous explosions, but he controls them to not hurt people, even as he is shouting "DIE!" over and over at them while doing it. He is starting to become more and more aware of this, and even says this almost directly in this episode to All Might. "Even if the world recognizes it, if I don't recognize it myself, then it's trash!". This is already massive character growth, because he now realizes he needs to be comfortable with himself, and not sustain his self worth with external sources like people praising his quirk. tl;dr Bakugo is such a well written character and the perfect foil for Deku.

In their current time period, what Endeavor did was highly unethical and taboo because it’s considered as human experimentation with superpowers and took basic human rights away from those forced into the marriage.

Stuff in the movies will feel kinda weird if you watch them out of order like he suggests. You can watch Movie 1 (Two Heroes) after this season ends. There's a single kinda throwaway scene in the middle of season 3 that was used to tease/promote the movie release when the anime was first airing. Watch the second movie (Heroes Rising) after Season 5 episode 12. The movie contains a very small spoiler that a lot of people miss when watching without knowing it, myself included, but I bet you guys would catch since you're pretty observant and discuss the stuff more than the average viewer. The spoiler material is covered in S5E10, but that arc really concludes with episode 12, so it makes more sense to wait until then. Watch the third movie (World Heroes Mission) after Season 5. It technically takes place in the middle of the second half of Season 5, but Season 5 also got weird because they flipped it around a bit when producing the anime for some reason. Don't worry about that. It doesn't make a difference if you don't already know any better from the manga. The final movie (You're Next) takes place during Season 7 episode 4 (quite literally from minute 12 and 13:30 of the episode lol). If y'all wanna get wild and pause the episode, watch the movie, then resume, that'd technically be the "proper" way, but that's pretty clunky. I did that when introducing my fiancé to the show, but I would just finish episode 4 and then watch the movie in your situation (though idk, that would make 2 video$ out of episode 4 for the channel ju$t $ayin...) Overall the movies are "soft canon" in the sense that they aren't directly tied to the main plot like Mugen Train from Demon Slayer, or the Garbage Dump for Haikyuu. They're canon according to the author, and a couple characters/ideas/things show up in the main anime extremely briefly (like, one slideshow picture lmao), but it isn't vitally important stuff, so the extreme specifics of when to watch aren't that important.

The brother originally had the power to pass on quirks, kind of the opposite to All for One which can steal and give quirks. When he gave him the quirk to stockpile power (normally your body can't handle more than 1 quirk) his original quirk became more useful because he could pass the combination of quirks on and get stronger over time.
