It makes me want to go full survivor mode haha my face was so tense the whole episode, I always have to remind myself to chill. I have not played the game but I cannot wait to feel just as bad for Abby and confuse my little heart!

2025-05-27 08:26:42 +0000 UTCSo I've never played Part 2 of TLOU but I watched a no commentary playthrough of it that matched my decision making at least 90% of the time... The show has deff decided to tell the story in a way unlike the game, and in some ways I think the approach would have benefited the game... but I think the characters in the live action fall short compared to the game EVEN when they get more context than in the game. (Pedro highkey an exception) I would expand on my opinion of the actors but, to keep it short, I think Bella Ramsey is okay in general but only if I look at her performance as an average or something. She seems awkward I guess I'd say in certain more "mature" moments of the show. Game Ellie is more consistent and imo a better performance at all levels. Hope to see y'all play the games, and would like if y'all started from the very beginning if possible!

But there were a lot of really great moments and I’m excited for the next season. Versus some other shows that I’ll watch but more meh on. My take on Ellie going on revenge, is that it’s definitely the reckless thing to do but I do understand it. I do think she made a good point with Jesse when she said “if you were in my position.” I think it’s really easy to judge people’s actions when you’re not the one going through it. The same reason she can’t let it go is the same reason Joel did what he did. It took away humanity’s hope, took away Ellie’s purpose, and on top it all, lied. But we can all understand it to a degree even though it was a horrible thing to do. And that understanding is the same I give to Ellie. But then of course, that would be extended to Abby as well. I mean at this point in time I cannot stand her lol. But even so her actions are understandable. I think it’s more sad than anything. How these kinds of things just breed more hate and the cycle doesn’t end. But realistically, it would be hard to be that person to put an end to it and move on.

They are split up in the same way. I think getting to know Ellie in the first game is important to enjoying the second game if you decide to play through it. Her characterization is similar but slightly different from her portrayal in the show, so I'd recommend getting to know game 1 Ellie and then following up with the second part

I will say they could have done better with writing Ellie’s character being more resourceful and revengeful. It definitely would have hit more for sure. I’ll give it a 7/10. I’m very excited for season 3 starting with Abby. I can’t wait for you guys to play part 1!!! When you’re done with that, you guys will just have to decide if you want to stay blind to season 3 by not playing part 2 or not.

2025-05-26 20:31:54 +0000 UTCNgl this entire season was kinda jarring, felt like it had extremely rushed pacing and compressed storytelling, undermined the emotional weight and character development that S1 had. felt like Ellie’s characterization lacked the emotional intensity expected after Joel’s death... and it usually doesn't take a lot for me to like a character but I don't think I like a single one so far other than Joel not even Tommy or ellie or Jesse it could be the acting but it's also the small things they say and do that make them feel real and literally no one feels real in this show, at least in s2... idk if I'm the only one that feels like that 😕 the dilemnas in the scenes are thought provoking tho S1: 8.2/10 S2: 6.5/10

She also never claimed to be the protector of all children, but rather just wanted to try and help those she sees in immediate danger in front of her. It was pretty unsettling in the silence to see her give up on saving the baby as Mel wanted, but its also true she had no idea how to do the operation alone, and unfortunately the baby /was/ incredibly likely to just die. If not from Ellie messing up on the operation, than from its crying drawing enemies when they're not in the safety of Jackson, the elements, or very likely starving without its mother and no readily available baby food :(( Jesse and her also still had a very nice moment imo, where Ellie reaffirms that Jesse is a good person despite their disagreement before, and that they would both do anything to protect each other Also I could be wrong but I didn't interpret the brush of her hair as an attempt to wake Dina up, but rather a reassuring sense of contact after seeing her for the first time after they separated, that Dina happened to wake up to I'm fairly neutral on Ellie, but I just didn't read many of these things as intentional

He’s been upfront with her from the start, so I wasn’t surprised by how he acted in Seattle. What did feel weird, though, was how cold Dina was towards Jesse, which was the total opposite of what happened in the game.

Everybody was furious they had to play as Abby right after that cliffhanger. If you want me to be honest though, after replaying the game last weekend. I was surprised walking away how much I liked Abby. Honestly even more than Ellie. Which feels blasphemous. And given how the show butchered Ellie this season and Dever is a much better actress than Bella I think that will be even more pronounced here assuming they get Abby’s story right. The issue is with a 2 year gap many people will leave off with this anger and then forget about the show by the time it starts up again. It will an even harder sell to get people to follow Abby than it was in the game. Plus I’ll be that guy again and say the way they wrote Ellie this season really soured me on the whole show. I don’t know whose idea it was to write her as incompetent. I didn’t realize until I replayed the game how much storytelling and character is told just by it being a game, for example the game makes you solve so many environmental puzzles and pull stuff out of your ass to survive the encounters with the enemies, so Ellie just inherently feels that much smarter and more resourceful. Show Ellie feels like she spent all season bumbling around and then accidentally stumbled into the big moments and scenes that game Ellie worked her tail off and slaughtered her way to arrive at. Long story short play the games.

I'm a fan of Ellie generally, especially in light of the penultimate flashback episode, but these are on the list of things that bother me 😤

I have a feeling the show will lead her down the road of being humbled. Which imo would be more predictable than getting revenge but it will still be an interesting take. I’ll have to give this show a 7 rating. I’m just not intrigued enough to know what direction the story takes. The only characters I care about aren’t mains, or don’t have enough screen time (Jessie/Tommy, I’m looking at you) and the ones who take it up I don’t care about and maybe that’s my issue with the show. I do not care about Ellie or what happens to her or Dina. The acting I find to be awful at parts and I’m having a hard time relating to the personal relationship. It feels extremely forced. Hot take, I know. But that’s just me. Some of the decisions they made were just idiotic. Concerning Jessie and Ellie in the end, why would they run to the door not knowing what threat is in the other side? Why was Jessie and Ellie not prepared for an attack? Where was there stealth? Jessie didn’t need to get shot so that was imo bad writing but we all saw it coming because the writing was on the nose. But again, it’s a solid show and I see the endearment. Someone said it best, it’s beautiful and awful at the same time.

My rationale was that the infected were targeting those on the roofs because they were a larger threat, but idk. Honestly, these sorts of moments pop up in media way too often, and it's typically for plot convenience. Also, Tommy would be invisible to the clickers running past him because they're blind, unlike the runners ☝️🤓

Without spoiling things, Abby's half of the game is without a doubt the strongest part of the game for me. I hateddd this character and was against even trying to emphasize with her perspective but I quickly found those walls coming down the more I went through her story. The moment I let go some of that angst and just allowed myself to be open and emphasize and go on this journey was when everything truly just fell into place.

2025-05-26 05:11:56 +0000 UTCi rated each episode out of 10 individually and averaged it by how many eps are in the season and my overall rating was an 8.2! there are definitely things i had major issues with as someone who’s played the game (ie. the pacing and the writing) but overall i thought it was a pretty decent adaptation! obviously with it being an adaptation, things are going to be different than the source material so i was prepared for that. a lot of the changes made were good changes! but the ones that were bad, were abysmal LOL. the last two episodes in my opinion are written the best out of the whole season and they are the only two episodes that neil druckmann and halley gross (the tlou2 writers) have writing credits on so it makes sense. to me, it feels like craig mazin has never played the game(s) before and he’s just writing the characters (more specifically ellie) just based things he’s heard about her from other ppl. as someone who’s got over 500 hours in tlou2, i feel like even i understand ellie more than craig does LMAO. anyway, i’m complaining a lot for a season i thought was pretty good. hopefully they either get rid of mazin altogether for the next season or just have neil and halley in the writers room a little more. i’d like to see the writing quality in season three be as good as it was in these last two episodes.

They need to take editing and makeup and directing more seriously, the walkers attacking the fortress looked like people at times, you could see someone standing in the forest plain as day last episode, I think they were wearing a green puffer jacket. And then the walkers ran past Tommey during the attack, like, who thought that was a sound decision? You want Tommey to fight the bloater to save his wife, but that was the best you people came up with? Just make Tommey invisible to all the clickers running past him? There are multiple narrative issues I have but that'll take too long to get into. Way better than Severance S2 though
