Most of my favorite kdramas actually fall in the lighter category than the darker ones. I think what's also great about the more wholesome shows is that there's still so much that you get out of it; it's not just meaningless humor or story--there are still heavy and relatable themes in there.

I think the writing on this show is phenomenal in the way that it explores multidimensional characters and storylines. For me, season 2 was just as good, if not better than season 1 haha

It is rife with cultural references and elements that would go over their head 2. It's really long both in terms of episode count and length 3. It leans really hard on the slice of life which combined with its length can be really disengaging. I've watch other reactors react to it and it was obvious that they were struggling to stay invested in it.

This made him feel very lonely, sad and empty during that time... He truly aced it by bringing this cold and stoic character to life on screen one that feels relatable to the audience. Knowing this makes Sieun feel more real. That's why his emotions looked so raw in Weak Hero. Goodness, this man continues to amaze me with his talent, love, and natural gift for acting! Love him. And I miss Wanna One, too. 😭

It’s a mix of drama, action, comedy, and just a tiny bit of romance. Such a great show, and definitely a refreshing change from the usual zombie or bullying-centered genres. But I’ll save that recommendation for another time. 😉 Can't wait for episode 4!! ✨

Also fun fact I haven't seen anyone in the comments mention yet; this whole show is based off a manhwa that goes by the same name "weak hero", just like solo leveling, tower of god, and the god of highschool. I'm noticing a trend of peak shows being adapted from manhwa lol. Crazy to see considering I was reading it when it was releasing. Having watched and read both now, Id say the adaptation was really well done.

They’re actually more well known for their wholesome slice-of-life stories and emotional romances. I haven’t watched many (no more than 10), but for me, the main point is how they handle deep and meaningful themes — and how well they make you feel them. It’s not just about happiness or sadness, but everything in between. I think K-dramas are really good at making you feel intrigued, creeped out, excited… That’s why I find myself watching a type of series I never used to before. I think that’s also what makes K-dramas so powerful — even though I haven’t watched that many. From the ones I know, and the ones people often talk about or that tend to be the most popular, they’re not usually focused on “positive” themes. They often dive into complex, emotional, sometimes painful topics — and maybe that’s what makes them so memorable.
