The Wish (story)
Added 2023-05-27 08:32:44 +0000 UTCSoma, a woman in her twenties and a special agent of a secret organization that recruits prodigies with unusual or extraordinary abilities to fight crime, has been having trouble sleeping for several days. It's not that Soma can't sleep, but rather, that Soma always has nightmares, and every time she sleeps, no matter how long she sleeps, when she wakes up Soma feels agitated and as if she hasn't rested at all. Also, the nightmares that Soma has are so strange... Usually Soma in her nightmares suffers some kind of transformation within them, once she was a sex doll, another time a figurine, and so on... And those nightmares are so constant, so strange and feel so real, that Soma wonders if those nightmares have some hidden message, or, maybe, they are some kind of projection of what happens to Soma in other universes or dimensions.β¦
Nothing has helped Soma to overcome the problem of her nightmares, neither taking vacations, nor going to the psychologist, nor taking medication, nothing works, besides that it has affected her work performance and that has made her very depressed, especially after Soma failed in a rescue mission in a park a few days ago and there were many victims and injured people, including children. Since then, because of the guilt Soma feels for not being able to do her job well in taking good care of people as a special agent, and also because of those increasingly weird dreams, Soma has been sad and depressed already for several months now, indulging in vices like drinking or smoking, thinking about what she should do with her life and feeling that she has failed in life in some way. At the same time, Soma, who has always sought to protect others, now feels in a great abyss of emotional vulnerability and Soma now wonders, who will protect or save her from her own problems? Sometimes, and especially at that moment, Soma wishes she could simply disappear from other people's lives, as if she had never existed, to stop hurting other people with her mistakes or by not doing her job well.
That same night, in which Soma meditates once again under the effects of alcohol about her problems in a bar, she finally gets ready to go home at 3 o'clock in the morning, already very tired and delirious. As Soma was walking through the lonely streets of the city, she heard a strange but sweet and angelic voice coming from the darkness, enunciating the words "hahaha do you want to play with me?". It sounded like a little girl's voice, but what is a little girl doing in the middle of the night in a dark alley? So, Soma goes over to investigate. There she was in that deep and dark alley a girl with long black hair and red eyes, plus a huge black eagle wings, wearing a red dress and carrying a blue hair stuffed animal, the girl is so beautiful that she looks like a doll, but on the other hand it seems as if the girl is being absorbed by the darkness, as if it seems that the darkness really comes out of herself, then the girl reaches out her hand to Soma:
Mysterious girl: I have heard your wish, poor soul in pain... If you want to stop suffering and stop making others suffer, I could help you to fulfill your wish..... If you are willing to give yourself to me in return with the consequences that implies, of course.
Soma: I... I don't know.... What is a girl doing alone in a dark alley at night? Am I delirious?
Girl: Mwahaha! Maybe yes, maybe not, could it be, will you take the risk? If you want to let suffer and redeem yourself by making happy the children you could not protect, you only have to take my hand and dance with me... Who knows, maybe you will not only redeem yourself but you could enjoy it a lot and be happy, but in return you will not remember anything from your past and nobody from your past will remember you. Who knows, ignorance can be bliss. What do you say?
[Drawing 1]
Soma: I... Ghh... Whatever... I will give you my hand... Either to redeem my mistakes or to take you home, strange bird girl.
Soma gives her hand to the girl with confidence without being able to foresee beforehand the situation she was going to get into, because who would have thought that what Soma saw in her dreams would come true, at least for herself at that moment, as if Soma's new adventure was just another nightmare or dream on the list, even though, at least for her, it would be completely real. It is then when, as Soma shakes hands with the girl, she ends up being consumed by the girl's darkness quickly, leaving Soma unconscious for a brief lapse of a few seconds.
A moment later Soma regains consciousness, even though she feels a bit strange... She doesn't remember who she is, or anything very specific about her life, so Soma has woken up with some kind of dense amnesia, even though she still remembers a bit of the last minutes she spent before and her conversation with the girl. On the other side, Soma can't move, even though he feels pretty good anyway, as if he doesn't need or has never needed to move and even seeing moving as something complicated and tiring now.... However, in spite of that, Soma finds herself surprised to see herself in the reflection of the glass of the showcase where she is kept, as she has a long and fluffy white dress with red details, very nice dress, and her skin looks so pale as snow that it seems to be made of some material like porcelain, while her cheeks are eternally blushed. At the same time Soma feels a lot of inner peace in herself, but she can't help but feel somewhat uneasy and surprised by the situation. Soma understood that, if the girl was true, Soma would have to redeem herself for her mistakes somehow, but she never thought that by becoming a porcelain doll locked inside a glass case, which causes Soma can't help but reproach a little about it in her clouded mind because of the strangeness of the situation, something that the winged girl seems to hear.
[Drawing 2]
Then the winged girl, who now seems to be a winged woman after Soma's transformation, thinks that maybe it was a bit of a sudden change for Soma and maybe she could try some kind of intermediate transformation like, for example, some kind of doll that can still move somehow, which gives a magnificent idea to the winged woman, who snaps her fingers and suddenly Soma loses consciousness again for a few seconds.
After that she sees the ground from a great height, feeling a bit weird and not being able to avoid feeling some vertigo, while she feels that she is grabbed by a big giant hand while another giant hand touches and turns something on her back, winding her up with... a wind-up key? And that's when the winged woman stops Soma at her desk and watches as Soma begins to walk prettily and helplessly while her body trembles.
Then Soma perceives that she has been turned into a kind of wind-up doll, with a beautiful ballet dress of an intense red color like her eyes, even that seems to be the last thing that Soma clearly perceives, while her mind liquefies with every step she takes on the desk, for every time the mechanism on her back turns, causing her a deep pleasure that drowns more and more her mind irremediably, until leaving her mind completely liquefied without being able to interpret her surroundings in a correct or coherent way anymore.
[Drawing 3]
After that, the winged woman considered that a transition from motion to immobility should be necessary to follow Soma's transition to a more inanimate and passive type of doll, so, after Soma ran out of string, the winged woman removed the string key and embedded it in a music box, where Soma would now just spin on its own axis, over and over and over and over again....
[Drawing 4]
However, that transformation does not seem like a conclusion to the winged woman, who senses that Soma perhaps expects something more, plus the winged woman is thirsty to experience more and more, so she snaps her fingers again to let Soma try another kind of "new carefree life."
Then the environment for Soma turns again into an absorbing darkness and she loses consciousness again, this time, for an indefinite time or, perhaps, at least, this time Soma is no longer able to perceive the passage of time like an ordinary human. However, after a while, Soma would briefly regain consciousness.
Now Soma feels pleasantly suffocated, besides feeling her body firm and immovable, even with a little flexibility, but not in a way that serves herself since she can no longer move, as if her brain and the rest of her body have been disconnected. However, Soma can still feel and drown in pleasure, as she feels how a huge finger slides along her leg without her being able to do anything, helpless, immobile, somewhat rigid but at the same time her body is somewhat slack, but always fixed in one position. This time Soma has been turned into a letter, even though it is not something that this time she can fully perceive, being already in a totally altered state of consciousness for being suffocated in pleasure and having an already very altered perception of her surroundings, only thinking about feeling more and more pleasure, all the time, always, forever.
[Drawing 5]
However, the winged woman intervenes again: she does not consider that this transformation is for her even though she is enjoying it very much, but Soma was projecting wanting to feel again the peace and tranquility that the apparent nightmares and remorse had taken away from her. Besides, the winged woman considers that she already holds too many cards for now. Therefore, the woman changes Soma's state again, this time clashing the palms of her hands, turning everything into a deep dark abyss for Soma.
Finally, after a long, very long indeterminate time, or at least that's how Soma perceives it, she briefly regains consciousness. She now finds herself lying in the warm hand of the winged woman, while she paints her face with a brush in a dedicated and delicate manner so as not to make any mistakes with her face makeup. After finishing, it seems that the winged woman is happy with her new work of art, besides that Soma finally emanates that deep peace that she so longed for and had lost, or at least that is what she thinks, while she herself, the winged woman, carefully places the kimono on her new doll, who will now be a hina doll.
[Drawing 6]
Once the winged woman has finished preparing her new doll, something new in her collection for a change, she then carefully puts it away in her display case, along with other dolls in her collection. At that point, Soma, remotely conscious in some way, if you can call it that, doubts herself of her existence and thinks that, perhaps, after so much pain that she remembers she once felt but does not remember why she felt it, maybe she really has always been a doll, and so she will be as the following years, decades or centuries pass by.
And so it is that the mysterious winged woman, Ina, has added yet another doll to her collection. Centuries later, Ina, while playing the organ and reflecting on the past, sees one of her favorite little dolls, Soma, whom she has tormented and will continue to torment over the centuries throughout the infinite universes where she exists, causing her to end up converted into some kind of doll or toy, fascinated and obsessed in some way with Soma, something that only happens on rare occasions with very particular victims.
"And so it was that yet another soul, yet another soul that abandoned all hope, has thus found a new opportunity to exist in a different way for eternity, more peaceful and happier, undoubtedly better than its tumultuous pasts. Who will be the next soul to find a new destiny? Will I next present myself again as a being of light ready to solve its existential dilemma? Or again as a dark reaper eager to cast my victims into the deepest madness as they dance to my song? Who knows?"
-Ina thinks.
