Hello from the New PC
Added 2024-06-17 23:58:47 +0000 UTCJust a brief hello, to say that the migration to the new system is now mainly complete.
I've had the new PC a week and it's been painstaking effort to transfer a decade of work and old programs - Daz 3, Daz 4, Photoshop - along with all my installed content, saved scenes, characters, custom textures etc. But it's done! And now everything works just as before.
Unfortunately I haven't had much time to play around because I also had to move all my work (and games) and overcome a few challenges with those, too.
I now have a cutting-edge system and that should show over time with the scope and ambition of the scenes I make. In particular I want to make much more use of DForce hair and clothes. Simulations that were taking 20-30 minutes on the old PC are now finishing in 3-4 minutes.
As much as I want to get into this, however, I realise that it's 3 weeks since I posted anything, my time is up in terms of your patience, and I should not try to run before I can walk.
I have spent the last couple of days testing and updating my main characters for the new PC - Amanda and Penelope in particular - and it occured to me that I was making some nice pics and not bothering to do any renders or save anything.
So what I think I would like to do is go right through the roster over the next week and try to do one girl per day. A quick studio shoot, one or two outfits, and a nice sleepy pic for each lady.
How does that sound?

I haven't but it's been 4 weeks and people are cancelling!

2024-06-18 21:45:54 +0000 UTCYeah, the problem is in moving installed files and scenes for Daz libraries. You have to know exactly what you are doing or the program cannot find anything and all your hours of work are gone.

2024-06-18 21:43:41 +0000 UTCWe will see how closely I can keep to it. Thursday is an England match so maybe not :-)

2024-06-18 21:43:07 +0000 UTCGood luck with the new setup, but don't worry about rushing to show us what you can do with it.

2024-06-18 16:08:33 +0000 UTCAt some point in the near future, I'm going to embark on a similar journey. I've learned to have one system drive and multiple data drives, so it's not quite as complicated for me, as none of the data drives have to be touched, just unplugged when I reinstall Windows and reconnected after. I still have to install all the apps, but the rest is largely plug-and-play.

2024-06-18 04:18:03 +0000 UTCI would love to see your girls as rendered with your new computer. I'm really looking forward to seeing what your new equipment is capable of - but that can wait.

2024-06-18 02:02:16 +0000 UTCWhat games you playing? Absolutely a pain in the butt when I made intensive hardware changes, especially with the hard drive. Hang in there! Hell yeah! Cosplay, pinup, peril? Got a theme in mind?

2024-06-18 01:58:45 +0000 UTCIt would be lovely to see the girls in the new system. As long as it's not taking away from what else you're doing, of course. I think our patience is going to pay off in a big way, so a bit of a slow period is no trouble. Yes, a bit of a studio showcase would be nice. No need to be rigorous about the one girl per day schedule, though.
