Goodbye Windows 7, Hello Windows 10
Added 2020-01-14 15:06:11 +0000 UTCDear patrons, I am something of a luddite... https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/luddite
...when it comes to the adoption of any new software. For this reason I am still using Windows 7, Daz Studio 3 and Adobe Photoshop CS2. Software from over 10 years ago! I don't like change but, with the demise of Windows 7 today I am making the move to Windows 10.
Why is this significant to you?
Well, firstly I just spent several hundred dollars on a new superfast M.2 drive and a legal copy of Windows 10. Your patronage paid for this. The sum I spent was equivalent to two months' Patreon receipts. Thank you.
The more significant thing is that the last remaining barrier to my installing and using Daz Studio 4 will be removed. I always told myself I didn't want to spend ages setting it up on my crowded Win 7 drive only to go through the pain of moving the installation with all the broken links and annoyance that would cause.
So, hopefully, by this weekend I should have Daz Studio 4 working on this PC.
I kind of like my current style how it looks right now so I will retain Daz 3 as before working alongside. However it's possible, likely even, that I might start to produce artwork with that distinctive 'iRay' look. Well, hopefully it will be a bit better than a lot of what I have seen out there. After all, you're paying me.
As you may understand, the ballache of reinstalling my entire system and getting set up may occupy me for a few days. So there could be a temporary interruption in service followed by a splurge of DS4-created stuff.
We'll see.
Anyway, I thought you ought to know.
Comments
Daz DOES work on Windows 10 (although this was my initial worry and the reason I built a Win7 system 2.5 years back). Both PerilsOfDawn and Monsieurpaul are using it fine with no problems. A few of the installers had to be used in Compatibility Mode, that's it.

2020-01-14 18:03:44 +0000 UTCGood luck with the update. I'm still using a 2007 iMac running OSX 10.6 ("Snow Leopard") from the same year as Windows 7, 2009. Does Daz3 work on Windows 10? I hate upgrading OS because then I have to upgrade everything else.
2020-01-14 15:58:08 +0000 UTCI am getting Win10 Home 64-Bit... am assuming it will update itself like crazy for the first few hours/days.
