Tears of Liscor Pre-Order + Gravesong Update

"Entitas ipsa involvit aptitudinem ad extorquendum certum assensum."

That's fancy Latin for something. The theory is that some Patreon readers might not click on this post. They'll just see the pre-order bit and thing 'oh, pirateaba is working on Gravesong Book 2 like I thought' and skip over the actual reading. Just like people who don't want to read Author's Notes, which is perfectly fine.

In which case I've got them and they'll not realize the pre-order announcement is only part of the post. Which is where this cover comes in to make people think that's all there is to this post:

...With that said, it is a beautiful cover. And this is a beautiful book. Book 9 of The Wandering Inn comes as I am re-releasing Volume 1. Yes, it feels like a bit ago since I announced it, but it is this year and this is probably one of the more pivotal books in the series.

It was a lot of hard work and John Anthony of JAD Illustrations did amazing work on it. Andrea was an incredible narrator, and it feels like this may be a turning point in the overall story as well. Things are in the works. But for now, the links are up for pre-order:

Now, to Gravesong, the hidden part of the post. I have been working this last update on Gravesong 2 and I will be taking off updates each month to work on it in private. This is to save myself from eating into my time off, and I know it will reduce the amount of regular chapters you get.

But I want to tell Cara's story and I hope to have the book done in 4 months. That...is going to be intense, but it is book-length. You will not see it for longer since it'll be going through editing, and whatnot, but I'm getting ahead of myself.

I have just begun outlining and that is tough. Books are short and I am already foreseeing a huge word-count and a lot to compress into the story. It's a difference pace, and a challenge because my overall notes of how the book should go is a far-cry from outlining each individual story beat.

I'll be working hard and continuing to work hard, but part of me trying to figure this out is...sometimes writing that bad first draft. Here's a snippet I wrote to outline the city of Menorome. And yes, you can already see the foreshadowing. Here's my question to you--would you like to read the snippets of G2's writing or not? I can't promise it'll stay in the final product and once I get it ready to publish, I'll have to take everything down but you might see a lot.

That's all from me. Hard at work, a wonderful cover and book waiting, and Gravesong 2. More ambition in this one? More craziness? We'll see. Here's the link to the secret stuff.

Hey, I've recently become a patreon supporter and just learned that gravesong is a thing. I was wondering if there is anywhere else other than Yonder where I can buy the book? Yonder is not available in my country

Favorite cover yet. Anticipation!

JazBird

That is probably the plan for a better experience. I don't know if my willpower is strong enough tho...

i'll skip on all the patreon-exclusive gravesong content and wait for the fully edited version to be out

Yes everyone keeps saying they’ll go there… where’s the crew from Baleros? They make a ship journey yet? I thought they were on the way after Talenqual. Perhaps it’s just me hoping the Inn is turning into the headquarters from Suikoden 2. Erin should start headhunting people and skills to live at Inn for the better!

Will patreon’s get to read it without using Yonder? Like first time. That’s what I did and it was fine as a post. I should also ask did anything change for the yonder publication. Was hearing bad things and was satiated on the release patreon’s got. Curious if anyone can clarify

Jamie Messier

I'd rather read the complete product at the end.

I find my self super not care about any character that isn't interacting with the inn or the from the inn, The Doctor, when she was talking or doing stuff for the inn, Cara, interacting with Inn people or from the inn's view looking at Cara, etc etc, quick fix make them interact more, or have a inn caracter meet up with them and show them the way of Erin.

Love seeing this kind of thing. I'm so interested and always interested in your process. Thank you.

Thank you, happy to have all the snippets!!

Pirate do you have any updates for us on physical copies of gravesong?

Already pre-ordered now just waiting for it to drop.

Echoing others, it’d be nice to know if Gravesong 2 will be released on Patreon (probably unedited) before going to Yonder. Would suck to see a bunch of snippets only to then have to put up with and pay Yonder a large chunk of change to read the cohesive version.Appreciate all the work you put in Paba, and certainly want you to make bank and write the stories you want to right, just a bit disappointing if the culmination of the monthly updates off was paywalled elsewhere.

I honestly love everything pirate writes, but I really dislike Cara, more than early chapters Ryoka even, I'm sure the story she has to tell is interesting and a good one, but of all the characters something big had to be focused on Cara would probably be my last pick for a character to expand on further. It's like she was written to purposefully be a bitch to everyone and she's conniving af, very superior egotistical demeanor, I'm not sure why anyone would like this character unless they're similar. She'd be a better antagonist than protagonist, feels weird to root for a character who's only discernable trait is that she's rude as hell and thinks she knows better than everyone else. I'm sure her backstory provides reasoning on why she is the way she is, but the package of the character puts me off enough that I'd rather just forget she's part of the story than hope she develops into a less obnoxious version of herself like Ryoka.
