Ah, yes! I forgot about that. So it's safe to assume she was much faster. That relieves me. 😎 Thank you!

2019-06-21 12:39:03 +0000 UTCThese are good points! Hard to use a horse in an ambush. The whirlwind is key, you're right. Even I can run 14 mph in a sprint easily, but not in a mini tornado.

2019-06-21 12:38:05 +0000 UTCGreat chapter. I'm loving the fact this book isn't mainly focused around Liscor. There are far to many other threads to enjoy right now.
2019-06-21 11:20:10 +0000 UTCHere's the answer, the distance give in the story was "as the bird flies" meaning it was ariel straight line and roads are never straight, so we don't know the actual distance she ran and therefor we know only the MINIMUM speed

2019-06-21 07:08:06 +0000 UTCShe might not have been the best top speed ever, but she still handily beat the best top speed *for that distance*. Current world records for the 100 km road ultramarathon (which is only 62 miles, so like 20% less distance) comes in at about 6/6.5 hours (for men/women). Adjust that to our requisite distance and Ryoka beat the world record time for that distance by about 2.5 hours. With regards to people catching her personally to me it seems like: 1) Movement skills seem semi-rare unless you are a runner/rider, and usually seem to have some sort of limitation on them (for example only being able to use them to attack). So even if Relc is fast in short lunges he might not be able to keep it up for very long. 2) Hasn't it been said that there aren't too many people who would be on Relc's level out there? Add that to the fact that these were amateur assassins as opposed to the super high level ones and I'd be somewhat surprised if someone like that was in one of the ambush parties. Throw the whirlwind on top and I could see them not being able to catch her. Just my take on it.

2019-06-21 06:32:41 +0000 UTCMILD SPOILER WARNING-----------------------------------------------:The math on her run speed seems off. It's fast by our world's standards, but only barely. The world record time for a marathon is about two hours, which is 13.1 mph on average. Considering 28mph is the fastest running speed ever recorded (Usain Bolt's 100m sprint in 2009), I can easily see someone like Relc catching up to her in an ambush party, since at 79 miles in 5.5 hours she was averaging 14 mph. So unless Ryoka had variable speeds of jogs and sprints, an interpretation that doesn't mesh with how you described her chugging a potion every time she slowed down, she wasn't running all that fast by our world's standards. By Innworld standards, with magical superfast people, I'm surprised she wasn't caught. I say this as either something isn't matching up with the numbers and speeds, or the descriptions of people like Relc being very fast are not supernatural, but well within the speeds observed in our world. Does this make sense? 🤔
