Necroepilogos will be moving to a floating schedule; Maidens to stay as-is.

You're very welcome! I always try to be open about these things with my readers.

Hazel Young

Thank you for the update.

Gothic Catalyst

Thank you very much for that perspective and input! That particular angle isn't something I've often heard before, and I'll see if I can do anything with it, certainly in Necroepilogos. Over in Maidens I've committed to giving each chapter exactly what it needs, no more or less, and it seems to resulting in pretty long chapters so far. But I could always cut things in half and post more often. And I could certainly try to post shorter Necro chapters without unnaturally compacting them. Thank you again! I'll give this some thought!

Hazel Young

I don't know if my experience is typical, but I want to mention, from the perspective of a reader with sadly very limited time, the chapters from all the serials are long. Much longer than what many other web serialists post. Longer that I can usually read in a sitting, not because I don't want to read longer, but because I'm just grabbing a few stolen moments during a break at work or late at night before I fall asleep. To be clear, this isn't about the style, I'm not saying the writing itself should be more concise and less detailed or that you should try and stuff the same amount of plot into fewer words. Just that I'd rather have half of it one week, and the other half another week, than nothing for two weeks or more. 50% shorter chapters wouldn't halve your workload, but they might get it closer to a comfortable level.

Aw, thank you very much! An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, and all that. I'll take care and keep doing the best I can!

Hazel Young

Hahaha, yeah! I guess I do have my own Raine/Victoria/Grimgrave behind the scenes, both literally and metaphorically, and I need to be reigned in too, for my own good. And thank you so much, I do take my dedication to storytelling very seriously, and I'm glad it pays off for the readers. I'll keep doing my best!

Hazel Young

Preventative Measures! Preventative Measures! Proud of you :3

"People close to me have recognised the workaholic habit" Aha! When you worked through Christmas and then apologized for taking sick time, I thought: There goes Heather/Elpida/Octavia sacrificing herself again; where's Raine/Victoria/Grimgrave(?) to reign her in? You are a very dedicated author; best wishes toward figuring out a schedule that works for you and the wonderful stories.

fionag11

Thank you, it's very kind of you to say so! I never intended to work seven days a week, it just sort of ... happened! And yeah, it's important that I recognised that's a bad idea. I'll make sure to take a little time for myself whenever I can. Thank you for all the support.

Hazel Young

Working seven days a week is crazy I'm certain that's actually illegal where I live don't do that to yourself please it won't affect my support or my enjoyment if you get to also relax once in a while

You're very welcome! I always try to be honest and open with my readers and patrons, try not to be too secretive about how this all works behind the scenes. And thank you very much indeed! The confidence in my decisions really means a lot to me, the trust of readers like you is really important. It's lovely to hear from somebody who's been here since the start! I'll keep doing my best!

Hazel Young

Of course! And thank you very much for the support and kind words, I really appreciate it. Necroepilogos might have to take a back seat for a bit, but burning myself out wouldn't help the stories anyway. I'll keep working as sustainably as I can!

Hazel Young

Thank you! I'll do the best I can to take care and not overwork, even while focusing on my stories as much as I can. Running myself ragged just results in worse storytelling in the end anyway. I really appreciate the support, thank you.

Hazel Young

Thanks for the update and I appreciate the transparency, I've been following since the beginning of Kata and know how much you care for your work so do what you think is best.

johnathan chheth

I think that making sure that you’re working at a sustainable pace is quite important! If Necro has to take a little bit of a backseat while Maidens gets into its groove, then so be it. Better that than risking burnout and sacrificing quality!

mgbm

Please take care of yourself! It's not something you need to apologize for! I'd always rather you prioritize your mental health, the story is great but don't make yourself sick.

Gwen

I really appreciate that, thank you so much! I'll do my best, focus on not burning out, and keep writing the best fiction I can!

Hazel Young

It's okay~ Better a good story than a rushed one, better a healthy happy author than a burnout one~

Yugonostalgia

Yeah! I think you're absolutely right. I managed to focus on two stories at a time for just over three years of consistent writing, but I suspect now that was a bit of an anomaly, made possible only by the specific nature of both those stories during that window of time. I'm going to move my focus firmly to Maidens, and Necroepilogos will be a side-project now.

Hazel Young

So, I'm relatively new to your books as someone who has only read Katalepsis. However, I've seen many creators face burn out like this before. I'm going to give you my personal recommendation. Focus on one book at a time.
