Side Story Spoilers - March 2019
Added 2019-03-22 03:07:33 +0000 UTCHey. No, hey. You wanna know what might come up if you vote for the next arc? I can't say much, but I'll give as much detail as I feel would be appropriate. Obviously no spoilers, but...we'll do the best we can here, alright? Alright.
A reminder. Don't tell anyone about the spoilers in this post. You can tell people in the poll what to vote for, but not why. Thanks!
Flos - Obviously a huge plot line and one we'll get to. But since that's true of all the arcs, I'll say that this one might be the most fascinating from a few perspectives. Firstly, we will get to see Nawal doing her thing, by which I mean forging with magic, talking about forging magic, and so on.
Not only that, Flos' kingdom is filled with the highest-level experts around, save for perhaps Wistram, so that means we will get to learn a lot more about the history of the world, see more high-level artifacts, and kingdom building on a grand scale. Come for the King of Destruction, stay for the surprises. That's all I can say here. If you like blacksmithing, vote for this.
Tom - The [Clown] be mad. Honestly, this will be a short arc, but a necessary one. What happened in the days after the Fool died? How has it affected Tom and co's place at court? You won't see the direct aftermath, but there's aftermath and aftermath, you know? If you want to know about Rhir's situation as a whole, and perhaps more about calamities future and past, vote for this. And uh...a certain ritual might be starting in a world near you.
Geneva - Interesting. Complex. But mostly unshown. That's Baleros, isn't it? We've seen the Titan's home, and we've witnessed bloody battlefields. But what's the rest of Baleros like? And how would a group of earthlings and mercenaries even survive? It's an interesting thing. If you consider Tom's story that of [Heroes] trying to defend a kingdom and Flos of an empire rebuilding, Geneva's story is that of a small group of allies trying to earn a living, survive, and make contact.
Definitely a change of pace, but not necessarily a guarantee of peace. After all, Ken might be a budding [Diplomat], but Baleros isn't known for fluffy bunnies. And where does the Titan fit in? Can't guarantee Niers will get all the screen time, but things will happen here. I could say that about any story, can't I? The point is we'll get to know a new cast, and find out what Geneva's like when she's not in a battlefield. And perhaps how that changed her.
Laken - He's started his own empire. And made mistakes. And now he's got Goblins. It's a long way home, if Riverfarm even counts, and when he gets back, everything's not as simple or the same as it used to be. Not that it ever was.
But Laken does have allies. Unlikely allies, but allies nonetheless. And a potential nightmare in the form of Pebblesnatch, Ulvama, and the other Goblins. Can he rise to the occasion? He surely must, because if he stays the same, this time his problems will crush him.
If you like cheating overpowered classes taking on horrible, overpowered problems, you might want to vote for this story. Then again, Laken's not exactly overpowered, is he? And he's about to run into a world of big rocks. Rolling down hill. Covered with poo. On fire.
Toren - Where has he been? What's he been doing? Besides collecting dead bodies. But what might he do with them? And is he changing? The answer is yes. Featuring a guest star in this arc, and a lot of...a lot of...
This one's potentially really interesting. If you like skeletons pondering the meaning of their existence.
Black Mage - He's not exactly a hero. More like a captive. But one who's chosen a side. And for all Wistram gets a bad rap, there's stuff you can do with an iPhone, a limited knowledge of Earth's achievements, and some magical help. And now there are more Earthlings. And that means...trouble.
Serious trouble, in fact. And if Blackmage wants to save lives, kick asses and chew bubblegum, he'd better find out how friendly his Archmage is. Also featuring a certain Calm Flower of the Battlefield and where she's been all this time.
