sediment in the soul - 19.16

Chapter floats aloft on the steel breeze, singing songs of atmospheric pressure and cloud formation. And here we are at the end of arc 19! There's so much for poor Heather to unpack, perhaps more than she can take all at once; but she's got lots of help at hand. Hope you all enjoy! Next week it's onto arc 20, as plans begin to finally take more concrete form. And here's a link, for clicking:

Thank you very much! I always try to build these kinds of moments from a character's own history, letting them (Heather, in this case) go through whatever process step by step, letting her take the narrative controls, getting my own voice out of the way so she can do the talking. I'm really delighted that come across and works well. This chapter was a surprisingly difficult one to write, I'm so glad it paid off well. I am very curious what exactly you mean by "pull a Lozzie," though! I can see several different ways of interpreting that phrase.

It would seem that Heather is about to “pull a Lozzie.” Which is rather adorable. I appreciate the time you spend with moments like these. That we are given context, a history, that is bleeding into the ‘now’ as Heather fights off a panic attack. That it’s not this simple, “and the character felt ‘this,’” statement. A credit to your writing, how you build a ‘moment’ like this: a girl on her bed, surrounded by family. It’s a lovingly rendered painting, a wonderful melody, it’s… a collection of words to which I don’t have enough talent to praise properly, other than to say: stunning.

Thank you so much! Yeah, I always worry about chapters where technically not a lot happens, but sometimes there's a lot to process, especially after a complex action sequence! I'm really glad this worked well. Wanted to get it right, for Heather too. Off the cliff indeed! We'll see where she lands.

This chapter is a wild ride, which is impressive especially considering that technically nearly nothing happens. I figure it was well written and treated the subjects well etc but I couldn't really pause to think about that stuff. Off the cliff we go!
