My Hero 8x9 FULL REACTION!

Comments

I won't lie, while the MHA ending is really amazing, the Todoroki family ending here is honestly kind of bad. I love this plotline, but the way it ends is honestly just underwritten and bizarre. I feel like Toya's fate is treated in a very tone deaf manner. His ending is beyond gruesome and honestly feels like overkill despite his crimes. The series seems to treat it like he's getting what he wants (to talk to his family), but he can barely speak and can only receive so many visits, so tbh this just feels messed up. And then the show decides to throw in a scene of everyone being all happy and smiley right after. It doesn't help that Rei is so underwritten and Enji's character stopped atoning back in season 6. I honestly used to love Enji, but he ended up being one of the weaker characters in the series for me because of how little direction he in the latter part of the story. The note of "he'll continue to atone" is just cheapened as a result. I'm happy that Shoto and Natsuo got good endings though!

Noboi

oh touya :(

Marley

There was a scene of him negotiating with the principal to have the right to expel and re-enroll students on his own discretion, so I would guess he did expel them but then gave them a second chance after the shock.

Bakugo crying in response to finding out that Deku is quirkless again absolutely gutted me! Him thinking back to all those times he put Deku down when he was quirklessโ€” realizing he wasted those years not seeing Deku for who he was, and then having that ripped from him so soon after he finally acknowledged him as a rival... Bakugo really looked forward to becoming a hero with Deku and the way they both would've pushed the other to be the best version of themselves. His sense of loss was really so visceral. ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ’” The Todorokis were wrapped up soooo well, too! Shouto asking Touya what his favorite food was was so sweet, because if you guys remember, when Shouto started coming home more often around season 5, it was one of the first things Natsuo asked Shouto to get to know him better. Shouto really took that experience to show Touya the same interest in bridging that gap that Natsuo did for him. And he genuinely sounded so happy to hear Touya answer him! ๐Ÿฅน๐Ÿฅน Like you guys pointed out, I love that they didn't have a fairy tale happy ending and that it was realistic. Each of them are processing and making peace with themselves in a way that suits them, whether it's forgiving their father or cutting him out of their lives. It's the way that Endeavor accepts their decision, while making it known that he will never stop holding himself accountable for his previous actions. Like Ange, Endeavor has firmly cemented himself as one of my absolute favorites in this show. Speaking of cementing, poor Cementos! The moment he stopped Deku and Shouto's fight in season 2, he sealed his fate as Ange's most unforgivable character in this show. ๐Ÿ˜‚ Ange even felt a bit bad for All For One, but poor Cementos can't even elicit a nice word from him. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Since we're approaching the end of the show, any chance you guys will do a top 5 scenes/fights video, like you did for Demon Slayer? I would love to see the results!

Just clarifying one thing, a couple seasons back it was offhandedly mentioned that Aizawa never really expelled students but instead sent them I think the general studies course and told them to try again when they were ready to train as heroes. (something like that, it's been a while) So he's always been a secret softie, but he definitely has an extra soft spot for 1A. Loved the reaction, the Bakugou scene is so wonderfully done and the resolution for the Todorokis was perfect. Glad you enjoyed it, I really feel like the character writing in this show is on another level. Can't believe the end is so soon! TT_TT <3

just thought about it. Another thought on Todoroki family is that there has been sprinkles of family atonement from Endy. But Endeavor hasn't actually done much to atone for actions. Instead the story kinda forces him to focus on being a hero, stopping Toya. I kinda like that, this episode is where he can finally start focusing on atonement. It kinda pivot from starting to atone in s4/5 to him deciding to focus on finishing his job as a hero, the number 1 hero stopping Toya for most of 6-8. He can't atone fully until he finishes his duty as a hero. He become a hero, he gotta finish what he start so he can focus on what he needs to. Now he retired to fully lock in, instead of half-assing, doing herowork and atonement Cause i was kinda sitting there, thinking what has Endeavor even done to atone. He basically said to watch and told his kids that he want to move out. But then pivot to him starting raid on LoV, then finding out Dabi. Then teaming with hawk and AM to protect Deku. then the war. we don't see much of Endeavor atonement. It kinda makes sense in hindsight

Ultimate Winner

The Bakugo moment was my favourite in the manga: I loved the scene in the anime as well, VA doing an amazing job of his voice being all choked up ๐Ÿฅบ๐Ÿ’” - but the Todoroki family scene with Touya was handled beautifully , too ๐Ÿ˜ข
