Garp has sunk his entire life into the Marines, into a belief that he can do more good in his life here, and when weighing his entire lifes philosophy and purpose against his grandsons he chose to stand down and let fate take the wheel. You can hate it, I know I do, but I think most can understand it.

2025-12-09 18:21:56 +0000 UTCI'd say it's important to realize, that two characters that never blamed Garp are Ace and Luffy, they understood, that the choices they made came with a price and were always willing to pay it. Forcing Garp to abandon everything he stood for, because of their choices, is probably something they'd hate.
