In Japan, people often confuse the spelling of “ace” with “ase,” since the “c” sound doesn’t exist in Japanese. When Japanese words are written using the English alphabet, the letter “c” is rarely used. The English word Ace is pronounced more like “ei-su” in Japanese, which naturally leaves out the “c.” The author likely noticed this common mistake and decided to clarify it to the audience with Ace’s tattoo. The idea that the “C” stands for “crybaby” is complete nonsense. And the theory that the “S” represents Sabo doesn’t quite hold up either. Why would Ace include an “S” for Sabo but not an “L” for Luffy? Although it's possible Ace only put S for Sabo because he's dead and Luffy is alive. Of course, this isn’t official or widely accepted. (or maybe it is. I never bothered to search for it) It’s just my personal interpretation of what the tattoo might mean.

At the time of writing the Manga, the author had no way to know what English translators will use to describe Luffy, because the word ACE uses for Luffy is Nakimushi which literally means crying insect. It can be translated multiple ways in English. Also, Ace didn't use the word very frequently for it to be a thing. I would argue that if S is for Sabo, then the tattoo is just ACE with both S & C because S and C can sound similar, so it's a way to write ACE while giving some credit to Sabo.

I think you guys missed it, but when Akainu attacked Jinbei and put a hole through him, it hit Luffy as well. If you go back to that scene, you can see a fresh scar and smoke coming off his chest. It is mentioned a few times in the episode that the attack hit him. Trafalgar Law also mentions the injury is one of the main reasons the surgery was so crucial and difficult.

So that even during the happy times, you know it will all go down... You get depressed and that's it. Luffy is officially at rock bottom. The only way now is either to stay down or to climb up.

So yeah… that signature looks even more identical to what Ace has tattooed on 😭😭 I can’t wait for you to see next chapter, I’m sure Carlie will feel so validated, I know I do every time I watch 505 😂 That’s ok guys, in One Piece is allowed to keep hope that anything can happen 🥹
