I agree. She's at a strange moment in her life, where she, on the spur of the moment (and out of gratitude for being saved), decided to trade her large but superficial following for a chance at genuine friendship and love. She's still dealing with the fallout and the massive change in her life, and also the fact she fell for Ken, hard. And yeah, on the surface she's taking it surprisingly well, probably out of a certain sense of pride and to not look desperate for attention, but there's this lingering feeling that she's actually going through an internal crisis, and the only thing keeping her from snapping is the proximity to Ken and Momo, and their genuine attempts to make her feel safe and welcome in their in-group despite her obvious character flaws. I find her character growth to be the most interesting out of the main cast, at least in the psychological sense.

To Carlie about the hand-holding: She was flirting with Okarun and just wanted to hold his hand, haha. Nothing more to it. Also, if you notice, in the scene after where Jiji is talking about his parents usually being too cheerful, Seiko (grandma) is eyeing the spot where Ken and Momo's hands were touching, thoughtfully. Usually, she would razz Momo for that, but she decided to let it be this time.

Itβs also one of those formative manga/anime that basically created all sorts of now famous anime romcom tropes. Worth checking out! Rumiko Takahashi is one of the greats of manga for a reason.
