I see Luke and Sylphy’s relationship as sibling like. I think Sylphy now thinks of that day wen he found out she was a girl, as a fond memory as an adult looking back like “we were really little then and didn’t no better haha” When Sylphy was explaining her desires of Rudy Ariel had look like (ok, ok, I get it.) while Luke look was like (in a Grayrat this talk is normal for me) Some say it was mean of Ariel to abuse her power into forcing sylphy into an ultimatum, but I see it as being that friend who needs to give her a strong push forward. When it cane to asking him to find the flower I realized then, the boy has no situational awareness . Ring communicators! What are the rage on them babies!? I always say Sylphy is too good for Rudy, but damn if I roote for them. I think it’s both he respects master Fitz and now that he’s older he has more self control. Remember with his adult mind in both a kid’s body and brain he had vary little said control of his emotions along with his advanced Grayrat genes. He’s matured in brain since then. Age counter 16 for both still. Shutting up now.

On power scaling, she's probably one of the most powerful mages in world, just obviously can't compare to one with laplace mana capacity. it really goes to show that rudy is on a whole other level compared to any normal mage.

And of course you have to be happy for Sylphie, she is just so sweet. That elaborate (albeit unnecessary) plan to get her and Rudy together was adorable

The scene is written that way intentionally as a mirror from Rudy's past behavior and to showcase his growth. His old immature self would've probably gone for the undergarments, and even the audience is tempted to think that's where Sylphie was leading. Yet he chose the sunglasses and reconnects with an important piece of his past.

Our boy is insanely powerful in his own right, and only stays humble by virtue of the people he's had in his life to compare himself to: Ruijerd, Eris, Roxy, Badigadi, Sylphie, Ghislaine, Soldat, et. al.
