I was kind of confused about the suicide power as well. For sure, the worm is what is causing people to commit suicide but either 1.) Evil eye doesn't have the power to make others commit suicide and was just over time thought to have this power because no one knew about them worm or 2.) He does have this suicide power, but like turbo granny said, because he looks at the kids in the eye to play with them, the psychic waves cancel out and the kid is unaffected. Then the freaking whatever grey-skinned family has them as sacrifices with the parents conveniently out of the picture.

I think he was generating psychic waves early on but it was only focused on the whatever kid was living in the house at the time but the worm was still the culprit i guess.

2025-07-11 15:52:36 +0000 UTCOn the author talk, the creator of Fire Punch Fujimoto had 3 assistants at the time. Fujimoto went on to write Chainsaw Man. His 3 assistants went to write hell paradise (written by Yuki Kaku), Spy x Family (written by tatsuya endo) and Dan Da Dan (Written by Yukinobu Tatsu), fire all along in that quartet lol. On the Evil Eye side thing Evil Eye the kid was the first sacrifice and i think the parents possible were the first victims of the worm, what i think is happening is that the worm kept making the parents suicide. Each time we saw evil eye interact with the families the color of the power was yellow (which is the worm psych power color) while evil eye is deep purple, i myself understood the situation as evil eye is the amalgamation of all the sacrifices in 200 years but they themselves dont have the power to kill turbo granny just think it does cause the worm kept doing it for 200 years. Doesnt make Evil Eye any less dangerous, he wants to kill every human cause his only contact with others was the Kito Family but Jiji will get to him somehow, Evil Eye is just an OP kid ghost which doesnt know any better.

People were killing themselves because of the worm, but its just kinda a happenstance that the situation created a yokai with a similar ability to the worm.
