I always enjoy characters that are made to be pieces of shit but have a genuinely good redemption arc.

6. And then on top of everything you said there's been 7 massive prison breaks including Tartarus, the highest max security prison. All For One, who is arguably the worst villain society has faced, is now out along with thousands of criminals causing mass destruction and terrorizing the public. The heroes can't keep up with recapturing that many people and instead of trying to do what they can heroes are quitting en masse.

I don’t agree on it being an overreaction, especially seeing it’s strictly from a citizen’s point of view.
1. The #1 hero school’s students have been attacked multiple times by villains as well as one getting kidnapped.
2. They watched their #1 hero who’s like the equivalent of superman practically being beaten into retirement on live television ( ofc they were still happy he won in the end) . So that was definitely going to cause uneasiness already.
3.The current #1 hero right in the mist of building public trust gets exposed for being a domestic abuser and setting up an arranged marriage so damaging that it causes a woman to be in a mental institution a lot more than just a little baggage 😭. Also having a son who’s apart of the group responsible for all the chaos they are seeing and not even knowing.
4.Their current #2 hero also gets exposed at the same time and as nuanced as his situation was especially compared to endeavor’s it just didn’t look good in the whole mix of things going on at the moment.
5. Gigantomachia tore apart whole cities 😭( not including the ones Shigaraki destroyed) so you have to understand that had to leave thousands if not millions of people grieving and distraught. Survivors homeless and depress
( all this happening in the span of one year mind you😭)
They have many reasons to feel the way they do about the heroes. it’s the same way people in real life are critiquing and criticizing their governments right now !!😂

I personally hard disagree on overreaction. Failure after failure, situation getting worse. Ofc citizens are gonna panick.
Heroes chose to be heroes as their dream, I assume the top heroes make huge bag of money from taxes that gov’t take to pay them. And they fail multiples time with lot of casualities.
They signed up for the glory, unfortunately potential public bad rep. Even tho its not their fault, they did fail in the eyes of public.
Citizen actually gave them a lot of leeways (prison break, war, Camino) and they dont have the context that we viewers has.
Obviously, since we are more attached to heroes than random citizen, its hard to be feel bad for them. But logically i dont blame them.

ngl endeavor is definitely an interesting and well written character, but I will always hate him for abusing his wife and children. I just can't look past those actions, unfortunately. :^(

Yeah I wouldn't say they're overreacting, especially if you take into account that this all literally happened in a year. It's expected to lose trust in those that were supposed to protect you.

Hawks' mom's quirk were to be able to control her extra eyes and let them float around. That's why his dad, who has feathers, relied on her for his crimes. So the feathers and floating eyeballs mixed to make Fierce Wings, feathers he can regrow and control as part of his senses.

I think theyre overreacting from our perspective, but in this world it’s a natural consequence and reaction to everything that’s been built up.
Everyone felt very safe because heroes, especially All Might were there to save the day in any situation. Heroes were meant to be infallible (which is proven by the mere fact that killing a villain is very rare and scandalous). That’s the flaw Shigaraki criticised intimately, because no one came to save him due to an overreliance on heroes.
And now society is falling apart and heroes are just not there. People take all those attacks happening, all the damage (Giganyomachia alone caused a high death toll as well as homelessness) as a personal failing of the heroes because of how much they relied on them.
So I think they’re reacting just like this world raised them to react.

oh my sweet Hawks... I really love him his story is really great but also tragic.. imagine being a personification of freedom with his fierce wings able to soar and do anything but feeling like you'll always be confined.. and when he thought he was finally free of it, it just seems to be replaced by a shinier and bigger cage. Will he ever be truly free?...
His reaction about Endeavour was also surprising to me but it makes sense. Its also why I think he never stood a chance with 'saving' twice just because of how he was raised.. he was trained(groomed) to be a hero but never learned how to actually save people as seen also with his guilt for his mother.. I dont think he ever managed to unpack all his trauma and cope with it healthy like even now he's just immediately !crisis mode endeavor needs us or the public will be beyond help! go go go! also remember that Hawks is so young still... I cant imagine all that he's carrying
amazing cover of course this is one of my top fave openings🔥🔥

I think hawks sees helping endeavor as both a way of thanking him and his own atonement for "abandoning his parents" I don't feel he did but he feels guilt for leaving his mom even tho he was a kid and even if endeavor did bad he needs help to be better is how hawks probably ses it.

I don't think the trump comparison is valid for all his failures with his family which is a whole murky can of worms, Endeavor is at his core a hero and doing good will always be is first thought. Heroes in the MHA universe are more like wrestlers (Hence why there's a whole list in universe of the top 10 heroes that look like villians) All Might is like Micheal Jordan he just takes all the space in a conversation but never retired but still played at his peak, and so for better or worse he carried hero society on his back so a lot of people both heroes and civilians don't know how bad it can get.

How are the civilians overreacting? Shigaraki destroyed one city after waking up, Gigantomachia ran through 10+ cities, Dabi revealed the number one hero's terrible secrets, over 9,000+ prisoners escaped multiple prisons, and multiple heroes including one of the top ten heroes retired due to this. Of course their trust in heroes is at an all time low, many people lost many of their friends and relatives because the heroes failed and now after living in peaceful times from All Might's era they're suddenly in constant danger. It makes complete sense they'd be pissed off. Btw this also all wasn't sudden, citizens slowly were loosing trust since S3 when Bakugo a child was kidnapped by the league of villains and the school has failed to keep attacks from happening like the USJ and training camp attack

I disagree about the civilians overreacting.
You have to think about how chaotic and destructive the war was which included heavy casualties from both pro-heroes & civilians, hero's failed to prevent all of it from happening along with the prison escape.
With heroes resigning and abandoning their supposed duties its really causing uncertainty in society and you'd have to look at it from their perspective since they don't know the full picture or understand what the heroes sacrificed to try and prevent it all from happening.
And the number one hero was also exposed in having been abusive to his family and being responsible in creating a mass-murdering villain so i don't blame some for not trusting heroes and deciding to step up to fight themselves.

To be fair the loss of trust is not sudden, even if it may feel so now. It was gradual,in s03 the fact that a child was kidnapped under the noses of heroes creates a crack (I d argue even the s01 fight was not a good look for heroes, it is never a great look to have school kids lives endangered). Then Endevour took All might´s place but it is very clearly said in s03-05 that he was never able to fully fill those shoes and the general perception was not in his favor (realistically Endevour is controversial, to give an example from our world, he d be closer to Trump than Obama in his "popularity"). Now add onto it the fact that there are tons of casulaties and deaths, cities taken down, and you hear that it is partially coz of the no 1 hero´s son??! Imagine if there was a huge scale attack made on your country , and you find out that part of the criminal group was someone from the government´s family...it does create distrust, it creates conspiracies, but worse - it proves incompetence. People d realistically start saying "you had one job and you failed", "why do we even pay taxes?" etc... That is why Dabi´s moment is so impactful, coz he waited for years for society to grow distrust towards heroes and then when it was the most fragile, he provided the final drop of information.
