Sorry about that, should be fixed.
Best episode so far! Some really good character writing. We will film Episode 17 this week as well. It'll release right at the end of the week!

Mushoku Ep 16 FULL REACTION!

Comments

I’m going to do this differently for this episode and give my thoughts, instead of my opinions. If that’s alright. I disagree, Paul was more out of line. I will first start by saying I do understand were he is coming from, but I don’t think he is or has been bettering himself. He was fully drunk during a rescue mission. The year here seeing what could be his family’s fate has nearly broken this man to a point that he might even think irs divine punishment for his cheating on Zenenth. But he’s more in the wrong for not just expecting way more from his son then what he can so far do, but he was also poring all his own failures and projecting them on to Rudy. He after hearing that his son just got to the human territory from the demo continent (witch in this works might as well be the moon wen it comes to communication) to be fully aware of what happen to everyone wen he himself was teleported. Yes Rudy who had been the the most 11 year old he’s been was boating at how he made it back. And Paul snapping at him hearing his tail was the look of a son who father just told him “I don’t care.” That face Rudy had was pure childhood parental disappointment in pain. And maybe look Paul Gabe him that rattled him after there fight might of been a look that his one ir both of his former parents gave him judging up memories, but that’s just speculation on my part. Yes Rudy not thinking to ask if his mother was not great and asked about Sylphy first didn’t help, but here why I think he didn’t. Though out (at least maybe to this episode) Rudeus has always referred to his new parents as “Paul and Zeneith” only Mother and father outwardly because that is expected to of him. I don’t think he still see theses two or can as his “parents” just a couple who let them stay at their house for 7 years. Unlike wen he saw Norn fir the first time who he’s know at birth and can see as a little sibling, I think why he didn’t think of Zenith first is he still doesn’t see her as his mother. I say this more as subconsciously not obviously out of non-affection or any emotional ties to the two but not the parental bond that a child and parent would get. Lastly. Back to the both the mind and.brain Rudy was 10 in a land he didn’t know. Wondering if he should look for others from his village, that he probably never really interacted with would not come to his mind , he didn’t really understand what happened. Him and Eris just assumed they were the only ones teleported. So the way I see it Paul is the more wrong here. He is drunk he is projecting., he never said it’s good to see you. And he put his young son (to the world) on a higher standard than him. He started it, he picked the fight, and he through the first punch, and as far as the people in that bar saw it, HE WAS THE ADULT IN THE ROOM. And he was more wrong. As always, these are my thoughts I’m not preaching. I’m showing you how I saw it and I walk any further debate. Just keep it civil please. This was a very complicated episode which makes it one of the BEST episodes. Age counter Rudy 11 Eris 13 Norn 4 Regressive Letcher child.

Episode 17 will drop end of the week he says, as I sit here on Monday night. Can I ever learn to trust again? To love again? Will these emotional scares inflicted ever truly heal? Only time will reveal the answers to my aching heart.

Love this episode and the next. Very interesting comments here. Only thing I'd add is that I find it very well written how Rudy's character does take into account having lived a previous life. He does see his reincarnation as the chance to restart he probably always wanted. But he does see his relations as a grown man. Not only the messed up perv stuff, but also things like being a little detached from his family. He probably doesn't view Zenith and Paul as a regular child would see his parents being their whole world. And that often brings resentment like in the extreme case just now. It's a weird circumstance and the characters act pretty realistically about it. Makes sense that they show all these flaws and it's not just a idyllic reunion. This is why a lot of us recommend this show.

This was one of my favourite epsiodes and the reason I love this anime so much. The relationships between people are so real. The tiny details in each episode, showing how Rudy vomited after even thinking of talking to Paul. Eris' first reaction to seeing Rudy being anger, who did this to you. How cute it was that she was trying to comfort him but didn't know how. It's just so much more real. It's not the fluffy reunion you would expect in more conventional anime. It's as if the characters are alive. Everyone is so flawed

I think paul just gave rudy too much credit because of how smart and adept he is. At the end of the day he's still a kid with the mind of a neet.

Dune

BTW something from LN that they left out is the girl inn the iron bikini dresses like that because her sister(the covered up one) got sexually abused after the mana disaster so she wears the skimpy armor so men will look at her not her sister

ngl, you guys have incredible post discussions on this show. Some of the best and you guys are spot on on quite a few of your guesses. The character writing and world building in this story are some of the best out there

Flaccid Duck

you should watch the ova episode "eris goes goblin slaying" it takes place at the same time as the scene with paul and rudy. they just didnt include it in the main season and only released it after the fact.

Just to clear things up, while Philip was talking about handing Eris to Rudy so he could take over the family, Philip isn't who sent her to his room. I doubt she even knew he was thinking about doing that. It was actually Hilda, her mother, who sent Eris.

Unfortunate

This episode its just so well written and so emotional, i love how u can understand both of the characters like, pauls pain and despair for looking for his family but for the miscommunication , making rudy feel bad, and rudys pride and hapiness on how he managed to survive and the travel alongside his crew, all the scene its so well done and u can feel the discussion of them like if u were one of the people on the church seeing them fight.
