2025-05-01 08:00:28 +0000 UTCA lot of other comments have already gone through both sides of Twice and Hawk's choices and their morality so I won't rehash that. The part I find really interesting is that they framed a lot of the episode making Hawks look like the villain and Twice the hero. If you pay attention to the angles, the shading, the music, all of it is done to make Hawks look extremely bad and for the audience to empathize with Twice. This goes a long way to showcasing why the villains feel the way they do about the heroes. How they're constantly being forgotten about, not given help, etc. When Hawks tells Twice to start over it's a callback to when he first got in trouble with the person stepping out in front of his motorcycle. The police tell Twice to start over but he's constantly shown after that being denied opportunities to do just that until he meets the League. So of course for Twice he's going to choose his friends when that's the only way he's ever been allowed to start over in society. You can see from the look on his face when Hawks tells him to start over how much this line affects him. The other line this episode that really gets me is Twice saying "You don't get to tell me I was unlucky" since all Twice ever wanted was friends and that's exactly what he got so he feels like the luckiest person. This episode does so many cool things playing with perspectives from different characters and different sides. Obviously the League are bad people and have done absolutely horrible things that they should 100% have accountability for but knowing why they are the way they are and feeling even the tiniest bit of empathy for the people society has cast out, left behind, and given no support to makes this such a better story overall! You'll learn more about Hawks' name so I won't spoil anything there but this is the first time in the series that the audience hears Hawks actual name. We've only heard him be referred to as Hawks in any setting he's in up until now.
