Including reprehensible content is very much intentional. If something lesser was used instead the audience may not react appropriately. If Rudeus never acted on his vile impulses then his reform would have no meaning. He has no guide on how to be a better person, and after literal decades of compromised development, it's to be expected that he's going to fail a lot. And for those that talk about how the author *chose* to include that kind of thing, yeah they did. Again, the journey serves no purpose if it's handled for Rudeus. Our modern age expectations are, historically speaking, extremely new. Nobility, historically speaking, have always been extraordinarily vile, in EVERY culture. Putting Rudeus in an environment that fails to check his darker nature puts the onus on him. If he doesn't choose to improve it's highly likely he simply won't. It wasn't fully covered but Paul saved Rudy from his first failure with Sylphie: he fully intended on grooming her. Paul noticed as he had seen similar things occur growing up (remember he's from an upper noble house), and consequently forcefully ejected Rudy from the situation. Because while Paul is scum, he isn't absolute scum. He's not disallowing their relationship, he's just ensuring Sylphie has a reasonable period of time to develop on her own so that it's her choice and not one made for her. Everyone should feel uncomfortable with these scenes. Nobody should be making assumptions about the author because of them. Notice the lack of fanservice? If this was _that_ kind of content, the audience would be getting "rewarded".
