Canon aspect is up for debate. I think we should leave it up to them to decide if the movies are canon since they are technically referenced in the anime later..

That was just a movie plot. So they will never reference that scene of Bakugo getting ofa in the movie in the anime. Don't want you guys to get your hope up seeing the plot being brought up again or being used for anything. its purely movie.

I've always said that they're basically as canon as you want them to be.

Most people are divided on the canon aspect because you don't need to watch the movies to follow along the plot in the anime. I'd call them canon simply because it elevates the anime more for me.

I won’t be posting spoilers in here either: It’s fine to think the movies are canon. The author allegedly claims that they can be taken as canon. But these movies have pretty damn big events happening in them. You’d think there would be flashbacks to certain events, references or callbacks, but there won’t be, because the manga’s plotline was decided seperately, and these movies serve as alternate stories disconnected from the plot, crammed into some convenient spaces in the story. The only thing that really matters to the canon are the movie-introduced side characters, to an extent. I love the movies so much, and they’re actual spectacles of animation, and are specifically special to me as an animator. But I personally wouldn’t call the movies canon, because when I’m watching a show, I’m taking every canon story element into account while attempting to make predictions. Thats why I feel like I should tell you to not take them into account when you’re thinking about the main story. The main anime is still the only thing that builds on the plot. 🙏
