I honestly just thought Mr Angelo was doing a bit with Foxy didn’t think yu thought that was her name haha. Oh and fun fact in the dub Rudeus’s (adult mind/narrator) is also the narrative for spy family. And no it’s 35 year old mind, still developing kid brain. That’s how it works, again I’m told the manga shows it better. Let’s talk genetics. Yu noticed Paul’s lust this episode. With this is to renaming yu the only traits Rudeus brought over from earth is his mind and intellect. This is a new body made with both physical and genetic traits of his new parents. In short Rudy (kid brain) inherited his mother skill for magic, and his dad’s …sex drive. Don’t get me wrong his past life adds to it, but with out that mind I’m sure he have the same interest urges just less understanding of them. Mind the Brain Ok first this is NOT me making excuses for the bath, in fact I think the mind was overpowering the most of this episode. But I do think his kid brain was the charge of not taking no as an answer. I think even after wuth Paul he even realizes what he was doing was wrong even if she was a he, and on this sene I’m told he asks himself why he did what he did after in manga. Still no excuse he did it and he shouldn’t have. I hope gave my thought on this readable I never get to talk about this with people. With that I broke my promise for making these small. Let’s be honest I’m not that guy. But we got to meat my favorite character this episode so no regrets. As for the hair comment and apology that’s just him being 20 years without ever talking to anyone. Age counter Ruddy from start to finish is 5-6 years old as of this episode Idiot Letcher Child.

2025-03-25 05:19:03 +0000 UTCThere are definitely some aspects to this show that can challenge what you're comfortable with, but after 2 watch throughs of both seasons, I don't think it's in there just to try to be edgy for no reason. This isn't a show for kids. Rudy was horrifically bullied in his past life but that doesn't excuse the kinds of things he was looking at when he grew up while living that hikikomori lifestyle, he was definitely an extreme pervert. But his growth as Rudy and not wasting his second chance throughout the show is what makes it so good IMO.

The characters have been grown in a harsh environment that just nurtured the worst parts of each other. The show reveals beautiful scenery while showing you the ugly parts of lie, Humans. Really liked the point you guys brought up about the older character narrating while showing Rudy as a child. It makes this uncomfortable dynamic where the things he is doing would be under stable for his age at 4 but he in reality is much older.

2025-03-22 21:12:02 +0000 UTCI appreciate Ange saying that you will hold characters accountable. You're not supposed to like a lot of the things that happen in this show. They're extremely uncomfortable because they're morally repugnant in a very human way. It's those human flaws that make us substantially more emotionally uncomfortable than cartoonish depictions of evil like Sukuna or whatever other anime characters a presented as the big bad. Sometimes the real evil is within the interiority of outwardly ordinary people. The more sweet, innocent or happy moments will definitely serve to highlight the contrast the problems with Rudy and others. But that's what life is and what people are like. Some more than others.

I like to think him as a blank yr old but random thoughts/experiences are sent to his brain at specific time. And his mind/body is that age. Like we cant expect to marry a 35yr old woman as a 4 year old man.

2025-03-22 17:55:56 +0000 UTCRudy's mind is 35 but his maturity is still like 14, mainly due to him becoming a shut in for 20 years after getting brutally bullied as a kid. He is pretty skilled at talking his way out of doing things but that is really about it. He stopped all social interactions as a kid in his first life and never left his room. He occasionally does/says some messed up things but he learns and grows like anyone else would. He is no worse then a kid would be in our current world that was never set straight by their parents. Things can get uncomfortable but glad to hear you plan to stick with it because as he grows up the story becomes something special.

I think you touched on the biggest point of conflict for a lot of viewers - that if his internal narrator was not an adult male, this would just be a goofy, pervy kid doing goofy pervy kid stuff and would be seen differently. But Rudy definitely grows and ages, and the two sort of mix and blur. The awkwardness sticks around, but not in the same way (the first half of the second season, for ex).

But he's not good at knowing social Ques and knowing how to properly interact with other people his age his able to talk to adults easier bc that's was mostly his whole life for 20 years.
