Yeah I agree with it being too zoomed in to see what’s actually going on. Being someone who read the manhwa, they did have it like that as well in the manhwa. But it would’ve been a lot better if they zoomed it out for the anime

Moxie you have to understand that the manhwa had such a good art director/team that worked on it to really let all of the epic scenes really pop. While I agree that I wish they had more episodes in the anime for a 1 - 1 adaption that is just very hard to do with any anime let alone solo leveling. Im just really happy that the shadows and the art style of the anime are great since that was a worry when it was announced for a anime.

i understand, but i followed multiple animes that got adapted and all of them were a step up from the manhwa. so my expectation was the same. if they couldve delievered the same level of animation, than this anime would be top1 for a while. it is still great, but compared what it couldve been... not so much.

i feel like this is likely only a problem of letting the comparisons get in the way of enjoying the great content of this anime. as someone who's never read the manhwa, this anime has been insanely well done, from animation, to badass character moments. even some of the lighter stuff is good, as i quite like the dynamics between Jinwoo and a lot of the other characters. maybe there's some great art in the manhwa that i won't get to see in the anime adaptation, but i still find myself feeling very satisfied with what we got.

the manhwa is beyond peak. if they tried to animate it based on the manhwa, they wouldve ran out of budget in season 1. the parts im looking for the most are a constant letdown in the anime. important parts are brushed off, or not shown as "epic" as it shouldve been. after the anime is over, i suggest you guys read it regardless of knowing the plot. every second page in the manhwa is a wallpaper quality drawing.

i agree with ange. the middle part like igris slicing the wyvern head, and the part where jinwoo stuck his blades into baran after igris blocked the attack and iron/tusk were holding down baran... i feel like there needed to be a cut of that scene zoomed out at some point to show what was happening . I think a main problem as well is that the shadow monarch domain turns jinwoo shadows purple because of the empowerment, but with baran himself being purple and some of the slashes/attacks being purple and pink and light blue, it's over stimulating on the eyes. The best animation part in this when they were drawing stuff and then the orange nuke was because it was clarity with less clutter on screen : it was jinwoo only, baran only getting hit, and ZOOM OUT, into sky nuke... i feel the other parts of the episode needed more wide angle shots.

I am an animator, and I agree, I was super disappointed with the lack of clarity for part of this fight. I could tell SOMETHING epic was happening, but I had no idea what it was.

I liked the fight as it was. I could follow most of it but I enjoy watching those parts over and over. After some rewatches you catch more of it than on the first watch

I also want to shoutout to A1 for choosing to do basically two versions of Japanese dubs for this show so that viewers both in and outside of Japan can enjoy this masterpiece of a series. The global Crunchyroll version follows the setting of the actual story, with South Korea being the main location and Japan their neighbouring country for the Jeju raid. While the version released in Japan has the main story taking place in Japan with the MC and cast being Japanese instead of Korean, and the neighbouring country is some fictional land. I believe the manhwa was also localized in Japan in the same way, though not sure if the novel was too.

I love Esil so much, she's such a cute little bean! Jinwoo looked really beautiful this episode. I really loved his character design here. I know it's hard for the anime to replicate the manhwa's art style to a T because obviously they have to animate the character too but I think this was the first episode where I felt they truly captured Jinwoo'S beauty the closest, almost on par, to the manhwa. He was just gorgeous through the whole ep, even when he struggled against Baran lmao! Fun fact, Baran's name was written in red which means he's an enemy that's on a higher level than Jinwoo was currently at, so I really like that they showed him struggling hard to defeat him, even being driven to the point of zero mana. Reminded me a lot of the Jinwoo vs Igris fight (he was on the verge of defeat there too). The wyvern's name was in orange, meaning it was an enemy on par with Jinwoo's current level. If you recall in season 1, the first instance dungeon episode, Jinwoo learns that as he defeats the monsters with colored names, he will level up to that monster's level and eventually the colored names will change to white, indicating that they're now weaker than him. Also Baran is another "monarch" and we know Jinwoo's shadow powers are tied to the shadow monarch power class, so this fight also gives you an idea of what a monarch class level power looks like. I also have to say that A1 is doing such an incredible job of adapting this manhwa so well. The artwork for the fight scenes are insanely good in the comic, so I was curious to see how they'd translate to the anime and imo it was epic!! As you guys said, the fight animation for this episode was really good, but I think the composition? (think that's the right term, sorry if I got it wrong) with the rain and the lighting plus the framing could have been a tad neater so that we could truly see what was going. Yoshihiro Kanno is the AD for this episode and he's infamous for his hand-drawn sketch style of fight animation (If you guys ever react to Bleach anime, you'll get to see his style in the latest season, one of the best animation episodes!). I think Kanno's animation really leveled up this fight for me, but yeah the background with the rain could have been done a bit neater and the framing more zoomed out. Hopefully they will adjust it better for the blue ray version. Also you probs missed it but there's a scene where Igris jumps onto Tusk's shoulder when they're fighting Baran's demon army and it was quite cool! We got more info from the system now. It looks like the system reveals more and more info as Jinwoo levels up, which is quite cool. Keeps the suspense! Next week we'll officially start the Jeju island arc and I'm so stoked for it!! Also next episode... aahhh I can't wait!!!

I agree with the fight scene being too zoomed in but I feel like it made the fight more epic that way and also I just enjoyed it for what it was and as long as it looks good I am fine with it but this is just my opinion

No I agree with you guys on the fight scene being too zoomed in so you can't tell what's going on. It also happened earlier in the season. Not sure if its related to epilepsy censoring that some anime do or if it was just a poor stylistic choice but either way it does detract from the overall fight a good bit. Here's hoping that in the Blu-ray cut they zoom it back out for us so we can enjoy the full spectacle.
