My friends kept bugging me to keep going. I must have watched the first episode at least 5 times over the course of a couple months. Each time saying "naa that's stupid". Finally I gave it an arc and was like "ok, it's not terrible". Next arc "actually, getting pretty decent". Then on one particular episode I remember sitting back and thinking "Holy shit, I think this has become my new favorite anime". That episode was 236. I'll never forget that moment!
