2025-02-07 12:18:05 +0000 UTCMy personal ranking is S7>S3>S6>S2=S4>S1>S5 Season 5 isn’t bad at all imo there is a lot of great moment and great character development. They messed up by reversing the MVA and Endeavor Agency arcs but other than that there's not much negative to say I think. The animation is good, the story is interesting even if it's more of a season of preparation and character development before seasons 6 and 7 but that doesn't make it a bad season. Since season 5 I find that the hatred that the MHA anime receives is very often unfair and just a crowd movement caused by haters. The anime is not perfect and Bones has sometimes made questionable choices but in the vast majority the Mha anime remains a banger.

The short chapters in the manga and excessive flashbacks in the anime are much less annoying when you can just continue to the next chapter/episode instead of waiting a week. These are also both only problems for the first arc. I think what happens in this arc is interesting and has payoff later in the story but the episodes are slow to get through it. The rest of the season is great.

I personally very much enjoyed season 5 and it's still better than a whole lot of other animes I've consumed! I understand and am not invalidating anyone's legitimate criticisms though! It's just... let these guys form their own opinions without the 'hanging weight' of everyone elses thoughts. Similar to the Sub vs Dub debate. In my opinion MHA does it better in most things than a handful of other animes out there😁 Again I'm not saying ppl can't have preferences or personal rankings. I'm just tired of people promoting their opinions as a fact and anyone that disagrees is wrong......lol

Season 5 IS the worst season no doubt, it's not that the quality itself drops a ton (it did get hurt because of COVID tho) one of the arcs is literally just the worst of the whole thing, even in the manga. But i'd only put it SLIGHTLY below S1, it's still good lol. S6 and S7 are PEAK among PEAK

I'd like to echo some other comments I've seen recommending the All Might Rising OVA, it's a great little video giving some back story to All Might, Nana and AFO. Also, congrats on being halfway through the show! Have you guys considered doing some OP/ED reactions for the first 4 seasons? Might be easier to do in halves, rather than a full 8 seasons worth at the end!

2025-02-06 07:01:24 +0000 UTCMy personal ranking is S3>S2>S6>S7=S1>S4>S5. My reasons for ranking S4 as second to last might be a bit different from others: 1. The pacing: there was a lot more recaps and repeated content to pad out scenes, so when viewing it weekly, things felt dragged out and frustrating at times. I can't completely fault the studio for this problem though (S5 though is completely the fault of the production side xD), because in the manga Horikoshi kind of rushed through some of the arcs in S4, so it's understandable the anime had to pad out runtime...which leads me to #2 2. Hassaikai arc: this was one of the weaker arcs in the manga imo, and I think that impacted the anime for me as well (the anime actually elevated the fights, for example filling in the blanks of Mirio's fight). More time could've been used in the development of Nighteye and Eri (who's more macguffin than character), which could've made their scenes more impactful. Chisaki and the Eight Bullets also ended up as one-off villains, posing not as much as danger as we expected, and Horikoshi usually loves his villains (what a waste of their excellent character designs). Overall, it was arc that I felt had a lot of lost potential. All of these are minor gripes though, MHA seasons are all over 7/10 for me and that's a hard thing to achieve for a long-running shounen jump series (the Big 3 could never xD). I'm looking forward to your reactions to the OPs and Eds~

That was what ive seen and personally was not affected since i was anime only and binged watched s5 in one go so i still enjoyed it lol im one of the unpopular side to say that I think the high peaks of the season competes still with some peaks of other seasons but it all just boils down to preference at the end of the day we all just chillin and having fun with the journey so yea~ Also im so excited for the next covers!!! all the openings from s5 up to s7 are some of my faves so cant wait for that~ if its one thing we can all agree on its that mha will never miss with the music

2025-02-06 04:31:10 +0000 UTCAs you guys have correctly identified, this arc is the reason a lot of people are down on season 4 of MHA. It's derisively even called the "high school concert season". The people who have this criticism wanted the show to be more serious and focus on darker. Like I mentioned in a comment just after you guys finished the Overhaul arc, season 4 of MHA was also followed very soon after by season 1 of Demon Slayer. The darker more mature tone of that show along with the vastly improved animation probably influenced the opinion that MHA fell off. That's my theory atleast. MHA was also developing a reputation for not killing off main characters. People started seeing this as the more kid-friendly anime. Season 5 of MHA also came out around the same time as Jujutsu Kaisen which is even darker and more serious, so that might be affecting the reputation of that season as well.

They’re just louder on the internet than others. The storylines in season 4 are some of the most important in the entire series, shits goated and there’s still one of the best episodes in the entire show remaining before the season is over.

Season 4 also gets a lot of shit (not as much as those two, and even then it's not deserved imo) because at this point it has been 3 whole arcs not involving or not progressing the League of Villains storyline (which is the main plotline) so people were understandably upset. Even though I like season 4, i can see why so many dislike it...

However, there is one VERY gut-wrenching and important episode that made me bawl my eyes out lol. There are very interesting plot lines setting up for absolute chaos that is coming up in s6 and s7.

There are so many people that, for whatever reason, didn't fit so neatly into one of those two categories, so it was nice to show an example of that. And yeah, the festival was an amazing bit of catharsis after some of the pain from earlier this season and last season. Showing the shadow lifting from Eri really was such a climactic moment. Now I just wish I'd been patient enough to space out watching these reactions to shorten the gap to the next ones. (c:
