I know I’m incredibly late to this, and I watched this anime like two years ago, but I remember quite a lot; and one thing I noticed now that I didn’t perceive then, is that Kana is meant to be spiritually perceptive, intuitive, essentially. Everyone who watched or is watching this show already knows it delves into some of the most occult and esoteric aspects of life. It is inherently psycho-spiritual. And so the show subtly hints at the idea that Kana possesses psychic abilities. In episode 4, Shinichi tells Migi “Kana is still human, right?”, in response to Migi telling him that she’s abnormally perceptive, and he has no clue why. This spiritual undertone is further confirmed when Kana admitted that she believed Shinichi was her soulmate. It’s similar to, if not is, the phenomenon of telepathy.

2025-03-27 21:33:29 +0000 UTCYeah Parasyte struggles in those moments (I remember wishing the anime had cut out more of those "Are you Shinichi" parts xD), but what Parasyte does well, Imo excels even over a lot of manga today. There's Shinichi and Migi's relationship at the core of course, Shinichi's psychological journey t/o the whole series, complex and memorable villains, iconic fight scenes, etc.

2025-02-02 05:38:16 +0000 UTCimo Parasyte's two weakest characters are Kana and Murano, and I've found their anime versions even worse than their manga counterparts despite having two of the most popular female VAs voicing them. The two of them act more like plot device rather than actual characters, which I've always found weird, because the author is capable of writing very compelling adult female characters like Tamiya Ryouko and Shinichi's mom. Kana VA = Daki in Demon Slayer, Kurapika in HxH Murano VA = MItsuri in Demon Slayer Shinichi's VA = Mahito in JJK and Shin in Sakamoto Days (I think Parasyte might've been one of his first few lead roles)
