Just saw it the first time with you, actually I am still in the end credits but I just had to say this, this was so damn enjoyable. I remember when they announced that they would end Haikyuu in movie format many people were worried about too much having to be cut and I am sure from a manga reader perspective or when alanyzing it more indepth there will be some stuff to complain about, but as anime only, who just enjoyed it alongside you, this was just plain amazing.

2024-12-30 18:08:04 +0000 UTCIt sucks too that the production company is banking on the massive Haikyuu fanbase who are willing to show up at theaters. And I believe they'll still show-up for the next one... I'm anime-only so far (planning on reading the manga after the anime's finished), but even I could tell there was a lot left on the cutting room floor. Very disappointed in Production IG (I'd thought the original studio would've given this movie more love). They could've made a longer movie (Mugen Train got 2 hrs, this only had 1h26m) and given some of the moments more build-up. I'm still holding out hope that someone at the studio will find it in their heart to remake the whole thing into the series, kind of the reverse of what they did in making movies out of the first few seasons...

2024-11-08 12:48:59 +0000 UTCit is so you can watch it uncensored on crunchyroll or wherever your watching, just time the reaction to the movie and boom full uncensored . thats why they have a timer in the top right

2024-11-06 20:21:29 +0000 UTCWe definitely agree that it lacked some build up. Its what the show thrives at doing when it has multiple episodes to work with.

2024-11-06 18:24:13 +0000 UTCThe set of movies were officially named Haikyuu The Final Animation by the animation studio. Which is what's led to everyone believing this is it for the series.

2024-11-06 04:55:30 +0000 UTCAnswering your question about how many U’s in Haikyuu! In japanese it’s ハイキュー, broken down it’s ハ(ha) イ(i) キュ(kyu) and the ー at the end is a symbol that means you double the length of the vowel sound. So technically, it’s Haikyu, but some translators prefer the double U because english doesn’t really have any other way to tell the reader to extend the vowel sound. And to answer the other question, ハイキュー is the japanese word for volleyball, though no one ever really uses it in japan.

2024-11-06 01:55:21 +0000 UTCjust so Ange & Carlie know what to expect, the next movie is "supposed" to cover around 4 full matches worth of volleyball, so if they do try to stuff everything into 1h30m then yea we are cooked, this nekoma match alone got loads of it cut out, some crazy people running Productions IG over there...

2024-11-05 20:26:54 +0000 UTCSadly I have mixed feelings about this movie. There were parts that were great and that I really liked. My three favourite moments in the movie were -when Kenma said he was having fun and Hinata started screaming because that was his goal, for Kenma to have fun playing Volleyball (and winning of course). -the flashback compilation where they show how everyone grew, flashing between the current game and they're time together during the training camps. -everything with Grandpa Ukai. The "my student and my blood are there, I couldn't want for more" and the handshake at the end. They were done amazingly imo. Which brings me to the things I was dissapointed by. The Manga had soooo many outstanding moments, and even though some of them were present in the movie, they didn't have the same impact. The pacing was way too fast. There was almost no breathing room to just feel these moments and most of them were just kind of glossed over anyway… For example the Tsukki Yamaguchi moment…yeah they showed it, but there wasn't much emotion behind it, it was like "Yamaguchi and Tsukki got a point and then highfived yay…" but everything surrounding it, the meaning and the emotion, were just not present. The manga did it so beautifully, there was so much emphasis put on their teamwork as the "spear"(server) and the "shield"(blocker) and how their friendship developed as they developed. Also what annoyed me to no end was that they didn't even mention that the second set of this game, was the FIRST SET that Karasuno EVER won aigainst Nekoma. There wasn't anything in this movie to even indicate that this was a big deal for Karasuno. The same kinda goes for other moments as well sadly, no emotional punch so to speak. Which I was so shocked by because the manga made me cry so many times during this match… And the anime, up until the movie, has done such an amzing job with it as well (even season 4 where the animation and art was a little wonky at times), they were able to convey the impact and emotion of any given moment… And then of course the MANY things the movie left out…so many good character moments on Karasuno as well as Nekoma are just gone. I knew it was gonna happen but still….really dissapointing… I'm feeling kinda validated in my feelings regarding this movie, considering Carlies lack of tears (except for the end), cause she cries way more easily than I do, judging by the many reactions I've watched here lol It just felt very rushed to me…

2024-11-05 20:18:16 +0000 UTCSo I'll try to explain a bit of the reason why the next movie is considered the "last movie" for anyone interested, though if I get anything wrong I hope someone will correct me on it as my info could be outdated or just be incorrect. My understanding is that anime in general is meant to mainly aid in selling volumes of the manga they were adapted from first and foremost, so whether the series is ongoing tends to affect financial considerations on whether another season of an anime is to be produced. This was at least how I understood it worked up to around 2020. Now the issue with Haikyu was that by the time we had hit season 4 the Haikyu manga had ended/was ending. We got the announcement that 2 more movies were being made and that was all we would be getting. The general consensus in the community was that after the issues with season 4's production, there was doubt about how well future seasons of the anime would do financially, especially with it having ended, hence the decision to make 2 more movies instead of more seasons. However, based on recent comments I've seen on the Haikyu reddit, I'm not sure if it was ever officially confirmed by the studios that these would be the last piece of media we would get of Haikyu, just what was confirmed to be slated for production. Granted, I can neither confirm or deny whether this is true since I got my info on the movies from english sources and not the japanese announcement itself. Even if this is not the case and the next movie really was meant to be the last movie, I and others hope that the continued interest in the series and huge amount of revenue they made from this movie would make them reconsider ending it with the next movie and continue to release more haikyu seasons/films in the future.

2024-11-05 18:33:43 +0000 UTCthe lack of focus on other characters isn't an issue in the manga, sadly the movie cut out a lot of stuff. still enjoyable as heck!!

2024-11-05 12:52:30 +0000 UTCSyncing up properly with Crunchyroll. The movie was fire! The animation was crisp! my favorite scene was when the animation went crazy before Tsukki's point. When Kuro received Asahi's back attach from an impossible position without falling and then laughed!!! wow! I rewatched that 10 times XD. Haikyuu is spelled with two "u". It's a classic old Japanese word for Volleyball.

2024-11-05 05:19:19 +0000 UTCVideo working well for me :) That scene where Kenma says he has fun and Hinata yells out is was probably my favorite in the whole series when reading the manga, and they adapted it really well. The voice actor hit hard in that scene. Thanks for the reaction!! :) Also from memory I think the scene where Kuro thanks Tsuki hits a little different in the manga and was a little harder to understand in the movie, and I interpreted it differently from you guys. When Tsuki thanks Kuro and Kuro says no, thank you. And then later tells Tsuki: "Watching you play, I'm glad I wasn't wrong." The way I interpreted it when reading was that all along from Tsuki's perspective and even ours (the viewers) Kuro just seems really nice for helping him without getting anything in return (which he is don't get me wrong) but it's actually not true that he's not getting anything from it. He had a theory on what is the best way to block and showing his ways to Tsuki was a way for him to confirm whether he's right or wrong and if his methods are reproduceable and reliable. That's why he tells Tsuki: You know how everyone is annoyed with your persistent blocking? It makes me think thank god I wasn't wrong. It shows how in a mentor/mentee relationship, it's not a one way street, both people can get something out of it and grow, and I think that's an important lesson to learn. That it can be worthwile to help the people around you not just because it's nice but also because you'll probably get something in return anyways. And also it's so interesting that the author is able to integrate and show so many small lessons. It makes me respect the author even more. My main gripe with the movie is that some of the character moments were either gone or harder to understand like this one. But overall it was still great and I loved it! P.S. For those who are curious the way that scene is played in the manga (chapter 320) starts with Nekoma saying the reason Tsuki is so good is because of Kuro. Tsuki thanks Kuro and Kuro says No. Thank you. Afterwards he has a whole monlogue in his head about how he thought: Read blocking is the type of blocking that gets the last laugh IN THEORY. Even if you understand it really well in concept... That doesn't mean that you can put it in practice every time. The ideal block is obviously, one that stops a hit. The more tired you are, the easier it is to fall into that mental trap. But... (And then to Tsuki:) Y'know how you're know for your super tenacious and super persistent blocking? Well.. Seeing how successful you are at it, I can't help but think... Thank God. I wasn't wrong. He thought he knew what he was doing, and it seemed to work for his team. But teaching Tsuki and seeing how he's able to make it work too, it gives him a reassurance that he was looking for, that he was right. And then to top it all off, Lev applies the exact same lesson and allows Kuro to pick up Asahi's ball, which makes Lev smile and Kuro laugh out loud. SUCH A GREAT SERIES!!!!!!!
