I read that it's Oda sensei's urge to make him look greater than Miyamoto Musashi who is a Japanese swordsman, strategist, artist, and writer that has undefeated record from his duels. Well, someone can correct me with this if I'm wrong

And he's also... kind. π i think now i know sanji's really my favorite straw hat... but maybe that's also because i kinda know more about him, being 1122 episodes in. Lol Of course i love them all though! The gap isn't very huge. π€

I remember when I first watched this being really disappointed with the vague explanation for zoro winning this fight. I gave up on ever receiving a proper explanation ....but I was wrong. I just had to wait for an unfathomably large amount of episodes, enough to make me forget all about zoro's win condition here

If it's hard to cut diamond, then it's hard to not cut paper. It's about control. If you can slice at a piece of paper and deliberately not cut it, then you have great control as a swordsman. Imo that's what Zoro's teacher was trying to say. Also philosophically, knowing when it's not worth cutting something or someone as well is part of it

2024-10-19 11:20:07 +0000 UTCregarding live action, ill say something controversial because even i myself think live action is masterpiece and on its own its amazing. I believe each character trully embraced the essence of their character and in the vacuum (judging LA as original and not interpretation of manga) its perfect. But as far following the story as it is there is one thing that is very different (aside the obvious changes in plot such as turning kuro into creepy mansion villain and removing jango etc...). what i mean is that characters are much more true to who they are much later in anime. Emily Rudd is playing Nami amazingly and the crew have chemistry that they have in anime but that chemistry in anime come much later. Not saying that it didnt exist at start but in LA they are cutting it much thicker than it was in manga/anime. This is not a flaw or complaint, i am just pointing out why characters in LA feel different then they do in anime.
