LOVE it. i think a big part of it bc i was a little kid in my parents bedroom on a box tv, watching it for the first time. the punchy kind of fights never really did much for me, but the way nami, a physically WEAK character, WON that fight by being smart???? and she has a super fucking cool, fancy, complicated WEATHER-STAFF??? hello?? i was HOOKED. i remember running around my parents garden with my sister, pretending to have a clima-tact. also, i did not see many female characters as a kid that could also fight. UGH oda i love you for making up nami. i love her so much.

It may have been established in earlier episodes with zoro and Nami. Im not trying to be different, i just prefer those 2 to Luffy.

They all win their own fights, they all have their motivations, they all have their emotional monologues and they all have their fun and goofy moments. If Ange doesn't give their respective spotlights and always keep Zoro in that spot without even appearing on the screen, then it really will take a lot for the other strawhats to get to the top.
