Hi Angelo. I read the manga a few years ago and I highly highly recommend it. If there's one manga I would recommend, it would be Tokyo Ghoul.

I only read the manga, so this is gonna be a fun ride~ About the manga: Ishida Sui's artwork is amazingly intricate and the first Tokyo Ghoul's story is pretty good (can't comment no the sequel/second half? Tokyo Ghoul:re , since I dropped it midway), but I'd only recommend it to people who can stomach gore, body horror, etc. I'm usually not a big fan of this type of genre, so the fact that I finished reading it shows how gripping the story of the manga was. But it's hard one to recommend to others since you don't really know what people find triggering or gross. I dropped the second manga mainly because :re's story felt all over the place and lost its charm. Plus a lot of the new characters were not my cup of tea, so I stopped.

Less satisfying? obviously, but saying there's no point at all it just an awful take. It being a prologue changes nothing. For example Vinland saga season 1 is a prologue yet its still worth watching by itself even if you didn't plan on watching season 2 for X or Y reasons.

I recently bought the manga and am reading it... season 1 is still quite rushed and skips A LOT of stuff... but compared to the other seasons it's still great.

2024-10-14 10:44:03 +0000 UTCOh, in the second epidoe I finally realised you are watching a censored version. There is much less blood and negative filters over the especially heavy scenes. Also when the ghoul had his foot on Hide's head, he barely moved it in the censored version, where in the uncensored one, there was a lot of stomping involved.

It's a completely serious and violent (even psychologically) anime. Be ready. And watch season 2 as well. Season 1 is like the prologue of the anime, it's a pity if you watch only the prologue. Give a chance to season 2 even though it doesn't follow the manga. It has some great scenes really worth watching.

Ange (and hopefully Carlie too soon) discovering the joys of reading manga is giving me so much life! You're right in that TG is definitely way better to continue as a manga after season 1 of the anime. Hope you can enjoy it just as much as I/we did!!
