I really dont think it was about Aang having a favourite I believe it was because he thought it was his duty to train Tenzin in airbending since he was the only one of his children to be born with it. And in turn Tenzin could train the next generation of airbenders. Even so he could have brought the whole family along for these trips!

2024-10-11 20:19:01 +0000 UTCI think the way Aang was shown to be an imperfect father makes a lot of sense. He's a great avatar for sure, but not being the perfect father because of his duties as the avatar keeps his character grounded as well. Shows he's a human underneath it all.

2024-10-10 19:02:48 +0000 UTCjust a small correction, jinora was the one drawn to the avatar statue, not ikki. i personally love this retrospective on aang as a father. at first it’s upsetting because you have to admire the character so much, but i think it’s incredibly realistic and humanizing. like, maybe the kid that was raised by monks til he was 12 and then had his entire family and culture wiped out by war and oh by the way, it’s his responsibility to fix it all… yeah makes sense that he might not have a perfect track record as a dad no matter how great of a person he was. as always, love the reactions!
