Korra Ep 12 REACTION!

We got those chills!!!

Korra Ep 12 REACTION!

Comments

Wow, the way people in the comments talk about future seasons like it's nothing is wild to me. I hope you guys aren't being spoiled. Korra is my favorite Avatar so i'm excited to see you guys continue this journey. Yeah the romance was very rushed, as were a lot of aspects of the season, because that's all they initially were going to get. Yet they still managed to create a very exciting, layered season with some really mature themes. It's not my favorite season but its one I always enjoy watching bc it's just fun. Amon was a good villain too, one of the standouts of the season for sure.

Raven Sub

I explained her personality, which I never said she didn’t have. You missed a very important step when I was defining character development when I said "then adapted and changed as a result". Again, having personality and going through things does not equate to having character development alone. What I did say is that she, in fact, doesn’t learn from her mistakes from the previous seasons. She repeatedly treats her friends, family, and mentor like garbage. She often ignores their advice in favor of someone she just met or barely knows, which leads to misfortune every time. Carlie and Ange literally just watched this happen, yet again, in season two when she rejected Tenzin and her father’s advice in favor of her uncle's, whom she barely knows, and treats Mako like crap for no good reason. Last season she ignore Tenzin's advice, joined Tarrlok, and treated her friends like crap. All of which she apologized for last season and acted like she learned her lesson, but nope. She just does it again, and this happens EVERY season. So when you say "she made mistakes and she LEARNED from them", I honestly have no idea what you're talking about. Not only does she not showcase any character development/ability to grow and learn from her mistakes, but she’s also a terrible person in the way she treats the people closest to her, and a terrible Avatar as her mistakes are frequent and very costly.

first season to me was alright. my favorite seasons are 3 > 4 > 1 > 2

Akai Oni

in the first 2 sentences u said to explain character development u literally explained her character and journey yet u dont seem like u wanna see it/admit it on her. she went through stuff and she made mistakes and she LEARNED from them. that's literally her every season, learning from her previous mistakes and growing. shocking how thats not obvious and clear as day to u.

Akai Oni

justice for salami pastrami. she was done dirty

I want to echo others in saying that Season 2 is probably the weakest season, but it does have some really standout episodes. Season 1 is 2nd best in my opinion, with Season 3 being the best then Season 4 being 3rd. I really like LoK as a whole, not as much as AtLA, but still really liked it.

Character growth doesn’t just mean you went through some things. It means you went through some things, learned from them, then adapted and changed as a result. As I mentioned in my previous comment, Korra went through things sure, but she kept making the same mistakes every season and in the end she wasn’t really much different than she was at the start. I can’t really give examples without spoilers obviously, but Korra doesn’t even come close to the character development that Zuko had so I really don’t see the comparison. If anything it just illustrates the point even more of what great character development looks like vs poor character development.

Grimble

I'm going to have to disagree, to say Korra had no development is insane to me. To me that's like saying characters like Zuko didn't grow at all. I would say her and Tenzin had the most character development in the show. I don't want to get into spoilers, but really with all that Korra goes through you saw no growth really?

To me the romance is teenage romance. Which is messy, full of rash and thoughtless decisions, and everything feeling as if it was the end of the world if it didn’t work out. So while it incredibly frustrating to watch, I do appreciate the realism of it. Like my life experience may be not the same as everyone else’s, but everything there felt so very accurate to what life was like for my peers and I around that age. Which was miserable and you couldn’t pay me to go back to. BUT, to me it establishes in a big way who these characters are. They are still kids. They are coming into their adulthood for sure, but most certainly not there, and I think the romance in their season does a solid, if not annoying, job of establishing that. Doesn’t mean anyone has to like it, but I don’t think the writing itself is as “bad” for the romance as many people claim it to be. But hey, just my thoughts! To each their own!

Kaldain

Don’t wanna get into details for obvious reasons, but she repeats several of the same mistakes every season. Which tells me she never learned from them and why I feel she never grows as a character. She was practically the same person by the end of Book 4. On the contrary, Aang had a lot of growth as a character from Book 1 - Book 3. Sure he was still a pacifist, but he went from not wanting the responsibility of the Avatar and wanting to just enjoy life, to taking the role very seriously and accepting his destiny to face the Firelord. Not to mention his maturity as a person grew tremendously as well.

Grimble

Personally I think she did grow, just because she kept fighting most of her problems head on doesnt mean she didnt grow. Aang kept his pacifist nature too.

I do agree the romance was probably pushed to appeal to fans who were into shipping, but having been on tumblr myself when LoK was coming out it really did NOT work for even those fans lol. I think they thought romance=drama and love triangles, when realistically what people who ship want is moments that lend themselves towards imagining the two characters together. So the end result is just frustrating and disappointing for everyone. : (

Allegra

ill just patiently be waiting for s3 🐐🗣

Arrow

I mean, it didn't say Chakras, but lets say it. It was chakras 🤣

Honestly, the best part of Korra for me was when you get bits and pieces of what happened with the original gang. There is also a side story that happens in season 2 that I thought was fantastic and maybe the best part about the show. Which was probably because it had nothing to do with Korra. Korra as a character is very frustrating. She never really seems to grow as a character and is just a whiny brat most of the time. She reminds me a lot of Anakin Skywalker from the prequels. An obnoxious student that just complains about their mentor all the time, never actually learns from their mistakes, and never decides to heed the advice of their mentor who is more often than not proven right. But, because they're so naturally gifted, they seem to brute force their way out of most situations they put themselves in. Maybe it was because I was older when I watched Korra, but I just couldn't stand her attitude, and I was right with you guys on the romance part of the show. Sorry, it doesn't get any better... Overall the show was OK. It had some good moments and the action/animation was top tier, but there was sadly a lot that brought it down. In general, the new "Team Avatar" always feels like just shallow copies of the original characters.

Grimble

Season 1 2 and 3 are my favorite, best villains good story, and two has one thing I love most about this show and one of the things I hate the most so it’s interesting I’m excited to see how you feel about season 2 but I’d say 1 or 3 is my top it’s to hard to choose!

Abdur-Rahmaan Brooks

Season 2 has two of my favorite episodes in the entire francise. I think everyone knows which ones so I won't say and spoil it.

Orochimaru has a giant snake 😳

The Asami turn around in season 1 is crazy lol Glad you both ended up liking her so much. Between her, Lin and Korra the show definitely continues the legacy of having great female characters. My guess at why the romance is so present is probably due to the large shipping fanbase from the first season. The show came out right around the height of Tumblr, when it got sold to Yahoo for a billion dollars. Not my cup of tea either, but those folks definitely helped propagate love for the OG series so I can't hate too much. In terms of best seasons for Korra, S1 is considered strong. Don't want to poison the well too much for the following seasons. I agree that this would've made a strong finale as a whole.

yep season 3 and 4 are the best ones because they were meant and written to be together

So... I'll run through a few things for you (No Spoilers). Season 1 as stated was meant to be a stand alone series. It originally got green lit as a special, just Avatar: The Legend of Korra with no plan to do any additional seasons. Due to it's success it eventually got the clear to do a 2nd season, but again season it was meant to be just season 2, and the creators were told they would not get a 3rd and 4th season. Again it did reasonably well so when season 2 finished they got renewed for both seasons 3 and 4 which is why the final two seasons work more cohesively then the first two seasons. Season 1: Has amazing animation (high frame rate, roughly 5x the amount of frames per episode than My Hero Academia) Season 2: Has the weakest animation for the first half (then a different studio took over for the 2nd half and it picks up). Season 2 is usually considered the weakest season, but I personally found it very epic and it made me really fall in love with the show. Season 3: Almost universally the favourite season (myself included) Season 4: Still generally beloved.

tarloq knew that if he tries to reason with amon, amon will bloodbend him or do something, so it was for the best to end this sad story once and for all
