2024-09-29 19:55:45 +0000 UTCI think it's important to understand that in a lot of the Ghibli movies, the relationship between the two main characters isn't necessarily romantic. Like with Chihiro and Haku in Spirited Away, there's nothing romantic about it, affection and love can be platonic as well. I always saw San and Ashitaka the same way. San literally hates all humans except for Ashitaka, so jumping into romance is quite a big leap. Compare these two to Sophie and Howl which is clearly a romantic pairing.
