lol I think you guys got caught up on the full moon thing with the blood bending. I don't think it was implied that it was absolutely needed for a full moon to be present to blood bend, just that water bending is the strongest under the full moon which was how it was discovered/made possible. I just think that Tarlok and Amon were trained to be strong benders which was how they were able to do it

2024-09-26 19:33:44 +0000 UTCThey specifically say in the flashback that sometimes people show rare bending abilities, and it's probably a genetic mutation - it's weird to assume that the absolute height of bending ability was fully explored by Aang and the gang - most of the most powerful benders at the time had been wiped out due to 100 years of war.

Bloodbending without a full moon? Sure go ahead! The Avatar can take away peoples bending? Nope, some guy can do it now at 10x speed.

2024-09-26 18:16:22 +0000 UTCMy headcanon is that Amon’s way to take bending away is that it is a mixture of bloodbending and chi blocking. Essentially blocking the bender’s chi from the inside unlike Ty Lee and the other blockers who do it by physically striking certain points in the body.
