2024-09-21 13:25:39 +0000 UTCWhat did you want them to do? They are not in control of the military or even in the top brass. They are a single division among many. The only other thing that could happen right there, was if their whole squad became enemies of the country - possibly the world - by going on the run with Kafka. If they then got captured, they would face judgement as traitors... something that is not viewed lightly in the world. That is IF they wouldn't just get shot right away. They can't exactly shoot back either, since they absolutely don't want to kill their own. It doesn't matter that he saved those people... not to those who weren't there. He would instantly be viewed as having tried to infiltrate them. Especially now that they know that at least one humanoid Kaiju can transform into a human (No 9). Mina did the only thing she could, in order to save Kafka's life.

The only kaiju they've encountered before Kafka that can speak have also tried to murder everyone. Detaining him is the only sensible thing to do. Honestly, they showed immense restraint by not immediately killing him.

Remember, the characters in the show haven't seen the show. All they know is that every kaiju, out of literal thousands, have been lumbering murder machines. Them not taking every precaution possible would be stupid to the point of insanity.

"No families were harmed in the anime" :P Also, I am so glad that you understand that Mina HAD to do that in the end. There were too many witnesses and everything was probably being recorded. I see lots of people complaining about Mina's actions in the end of the episode, but it is important to remember that NO kaiju has ever been on their side. No human has ever been able to do what Kafka is doing. Finally, lately they have seen a humanoid Kaiju that is able to transform into a human. Normally they would have opened fire right away, but Mina prevented that by 'detaining' Kafka. Edit: And just to add to that: Mina is just a leader of a single division within that branch of the military. There was simply no hiding it, since they got backup and many people saw it. That is not even taking recordings and the control room people into consideration. It is very likely that everything is automatically sent to the main HQ. There were only 2 choices here. 1. Detain Kafka as non-violently as possible to prevent everybody from shooting him. 2. Go on the run with the whole 3rd division and become public enemy nr 1 in the whole world. All of them would be considered traitors and there is no doubt that a LOT of resources would be used to capture them. If they were lucky, they would be tried as traitors... if not, they would just be killed.

2024-09-20 22:01:24 +0000 UTCThe guns use the combat suit power to increase the strength of the shot, look at the size of the beam of Shinomiya's shot compared to the others. Mina's Shots take her 96% plus the power she uses to wrestle the gun up and handle the recoil, notice the tiger stands behind her to act as a brace. Being tired probably reduced the number of shots she could produce.
