My Hero Eps 2x16-2x17 FULL REACTIONS!

Oh boy you guys gave Endeavor the mvp in ep 17, that’s gonna be controversial. I can see why some people would like to give Stain the mvp, because he did save Deku, and some parts of the audience agree with his ideology. I don’t agree though, he was literally trying to murder Iida and Native this episode. I also strongly disagree with his ideology. Even forgetting the fact that he is a murderer, he thinks being a hero is wrong if you do it for fame or money. I don’t agree with that. Doing hero work even for fame and money isn’t bad as long as they aren’t hurting people

I think Deku should have gotten mvp in episode 16. I can see where you guys are coming from with Shoto, but he wouldn’t even know to be there to help without Deku. Deku was both empathetic enough and intelligent enough to connect the dots of where Iida would be, save his life, AND correctly identify he should immediately signal for back up and sent out his location. It was big of Todoroki to put aside his pride to work with his father but I think Deku did more this episode to deserve mvp.

yeah the discussion about endeavor needing to learn the true meaning of being a hero is interesting, because in actual fact endeavor has the highest numbers in terms of arrests made and villains defeated. He's bonkers powerful and has earned plenty of fans this way. However the hero rankings are heavily based on popularity with the public and approval polls which is where all might wins by a landslide. He is much stronger then endeavor even weakened like this but his place as the number one hero is mainly because people love him

After seeing yalls reactions to the show so far, I feel like you're definitely gonna like the the rest! A lot of the times people get bored because they dont care about the characters that arent their favorites, but it seems yall are always open to new character intoductions so I think you'll like it!

Agreed. It's like when a police officer is amazing at his job and universally loved and called a "pillar of the community" and then you find out he goes home and hits his wife and kids. Huge disconnect between who Endeavor is in public and who he is at home, which is really realistic.

@Carlie: Holy shit there is NO CHANCE Endeavor would beat All Might in a 1v1 even with All Might's current limited power/time. If that were the case, Endeavor would be the Number 1 Hero. All Might could literally blow Endeavor's flames away and one-shot him with a SMASH to the face. Thoughts: Deku should have gotten MVP for 2x16 because he literally saved Iida's life before anyone else got there while simultaneously sending his location to Todoroki to call for backup. My pick for 2x17's MVP would have been Stain because he's a villain with commendable convictions who just took the wrong path in life. He also SAVED Deku because he saw Deku as a worthy hero. That's pretty layered for a shounen villain. PS: I love the 2/1 episode drops! Keeps me from binging through all 3 in one sitting lol. It stretches the enjoyment of my favorite drop you guys have ever done!

All I can say without going into spoiler territory is that how you feel right now is how you're supposed to feel at this point in the show. I also believe that's how nearly everyone felt when watching these episodes. So, I feel like you're creating this phantom segment of fans that were worshipped Endeavor at this point in the anime.

Yeah I was hoping for Stain as well. I get that it doesn't really fit the "My Hero" segment, though. He was definitely the most impactful character of the last episode IMO.

Honestly Endeavor has a very messy history but I prefer to face people for who they are in the present. Not saying I forgive him for anything he’s done, but there’s a huge juxtaposition in his hero work and his personal life and I’m glad it’s for a decently prevalent character. It explores the dynamics of how real abuse works, and how you never expect it from someone, because they’re “good” in every other situation. But because it IS fiction and there is depth to his character I don’t hate him, and at times find him admirable as the show goes on. It makes sense to hate him, but also if you don’t hate him XD And he’s just one of many complex characters in MHA!!

I appreciate the reply. Clarifying, I did not say 'most people' I said 'a lot of people', as in far too many people. As for excusing the mothers behavior, she was an abuse victim for years before the incident in question. This act is also portrayed as a psychotic break, and a person undergoing a psychotic break is not morally culpable for their actions. She then spent the rest of the past ~8 years in a mental institution, she apologized for her actions. On the other hand he spent the last 8 years continuing to abusively treat his son like an extension of himself and his ambitions. I can't get into a reply on the 'redeem himself' without getting into spoiler territory.

Personally I've never been able to stomach the way that a lot of people excuse Endeavor's behavior or forgive him for being a monster because he looks cool fighting villains. There's no excuse for abusing your family so badly that your wife pours scalding water on your son, especially when you did it because you we so insecure you couldn't handle not being the most worshipped. He's a narcissist. We didn't need to see all of the abuse on screen to be able to read between the lines. He's every pop star or hollywood actor or famous director who turned out to be a horrible person behind the scenes. People can't seem to hold both the truth that a person is talented and that they are monstrous at the same time. A person can be both and we have plenty of examples. OK, getting off my soap box now.

I'd disagree. He is up there but not the BEST. Also something I love about MHA, is the fact that after finishing the whole series a lot of characters from their prospective are the Main Character of the series. Meaning if we would see Shotos prospective and delete all the scenes where he is absent you have a story with a main character. That's what I love from this show.

This is the first time I disagree with your choice, Deku is MVP in 2x16 for me. He is the one who made the connection with Hosu, Stain and Iida, he saved Iida's life first and called for Shoto. Shoto did save both Iida and Deku which kinda was necessary for the team up to make sense, but for me Deku still was the one that got everyone together.

You guys should release the reaction to 2x19 this week as well - for timing / episode order's sake. 2x19 is the end of this whole stain business before the next arc, and after 2x19, there are 6 episodes of season 2 left, which makes sense with your usual 3 episodes per week release schedule.

"Hero Endeavor is amazing" not my words but I agree. Endeavor is a complicated but well written character, probs one of the best well written ones in this show. And I agree, Stain is one of my favourite villains, maybe even my top fave though there are some pretty good contenders for that spot. Imo both Deku and Shoto had equal shots for Ep 16 MVP, Deku was first on the scene and he was the one who alerted Shoto but he did get himself paralyzed pretty soon after and Shoto saved them. I agree with your choice for Shoto as well. Awesome reactions as always guys! Can't wait for ep 18.

To clarify, Endeavor WAS physically abusive to his family. In the end, Todoroki's mom was taken to a mental hospital, not for physical injuries, but that doesn't invalidate the fact that Endeavor abused his wife and child physically and verbally to the point that Todoroki's mother had an intense trauma response to Todoroki's face, just because it looked a bit like Endeavor's.

Stain does not look at "all" other heroes as fakes, but many of them. That's why he was not trying to kill Shoto and Deku, he was just immobilizing them to kill Iida and the other guy. He even said to Deku and Shoto "You are good, I'll let you live", and he saved Deku in the end. He's a very well written villain! P.S: I love Endeavor too :)

I love Ange’s attention to detail picking up early on how all of this character development is because Deku has a fully realized image of who he wants to be and knows what that looks like as a hero. As a result he is helping the others find and become that version of themselves too. Y’all are going to love this show I know it. I’ve literally been subbed for multiple years and this show is one I’ve really been waiting for y’all to watch!
