I disagree with the comment about the new gang. I think Korra, Asami, Mako and Bolin are distinct enough from the original gaang. I get what you mean, they fit similar roles in the story, but I think they have different enough personalities to keep things fresh. This is a bit of a spoiler; a personal criticism of mine for LoK is that they don't spend enough time with the new gang, and instead focus on other characters. But that is exactly what you were hoping for Ange, so it might work for you
