Trying to: -Introduce all the characters and setting. -do korras avatar training -include a bunch of probending -equalist main conflict -weird political side conflict -super messy love rhombus All In 11 episodes was wayyyy too much. None of it really gets the time and development it needed. And the pacing is way off. The following seasons all get progressively better though I'd say and it turns out pretty good in the end. But yeah first season all felt a bit cringe to me. But hey it's hard to live up to ATLA.

2024-09-20 04:37:45 +0000 UTCThe relationship aspect of the show is super awkward and messy because they're teenagers. When we watch it with our adult eyes, it gets on our nerves but then, when we remember how much drama the love lives of teens can create, it's actually pretty realistic.

And, yes, around the year 1920 sports fixing was extremely common. You didn't have video replay yet, so it was really hard to prove.

Korra as a series has some rather good villains, even people who generally don’t care for the show tend to agree their problems weren’t anything to do with the antagonists. As to the group dynamic feeling very familiar at this point, I think y’all are right and it was an intentional creative choice to engender a stronger sense of “Team Avatar” authenticity over what was initially planned as a much shorter show. I think that’s bolstered by the fact that, as the show goes on, they begin to strongly characterize the group in new ways and build more strongly on prior events to distinguish them further.
