I'm not going to go into spoilers here, but I've shown it to many of my friends who looked at me like I had puked in their cereal lol. You might FEEL like the theme and message is clear, but I don't really think it is. And if Carlie and Ange have expressed being a little confused at Howl's Moving Castle, Princess Mononoke steps that up big time. Listen, I HOPE they love it, but I'm just giving some needed warnings here.

Honestly, I have never been huge into Ghibli, my best friend convinced me to watch some of the movies with her, and while I enjoyed them, they didn't leave much of a lasting message on me compared to Your Name, A Silent Voice, weathering with you, I want toe at your pancreas, so on. But a movie will still be good to eat dinner with either way, and as always, if what I (or you) wants to win now doesn't win, it can always win the next one :3

All the Ghibli films you have watch are not even a tenth of how weird and esoteric Princess Mononoke gets (not saying that it is the most weird anime film out there, just compared to the Ghibli films they have seen) If you watch it, prepare to decipher meaning out of metaphor.

2024-09-06 15:32:03 +0000 UTCYes! Finally. You can watch this in any language you want. English and Japanese are fine. After this I am sure Pancreas would be a great one to watch. As much as I like Grave of the Fireflies, it's definitely the most dated out of all of these ( obviously, it's way older lol ) It has that old charme that can also be detrimental to the whole thing nowadays.
