The protagonist used to all be teenagers because so were we, and they are 30 year old salarymen now because that's what most of us are. We literally grew up in conjunction with this medium so it's not surprising that it mirrors us as its primary audience.

2024-08-25 10:27:57 +0000 UTCI’m not particularly an audiophile though… like… ever. Maybe I just judge the artistic aspects of anime more? Like OST, sfx, vfx, animation quality, etc. I urge you to go back (with a critical ear this time) and see if you notice what I’m talking about. It was a moderately consistent gripe of mine throughout the season. For context: I’ve never had complaints about an anime’s audio mix before other than AoT S4 not slapping as hard as prior seasons, OST-wise. That was the only other time.

Like, some of the OST tracks by themselves are cool but the way they use them didn't really hit for me. It was a case of soundtrack not matching the style of show, IMO.

2024-08-25 06:04:35 +0000 UTCThe one thing that bothered me about this show was evident again on watching this episode for the second time: There's something not quite right about the audio engineering/mixing in this series. Like, during the first action scenes, certain sound FX are EXTREMELY low volume and lack impact (gun shots etc). On top of that, the background music direction is a little awkward during some scenes. I wonder why this happened to a Production IG show when they normally nail the audio stuff.

You guys never disappoint with these reactions, always a delight! Can't wait for episode 2! Btw 'kaiju' is basically a strange giant monster popularized in Japanese fiction/fantasy. Godzilla for eg is a kaiju.

2024-08-24 17:51:13 +0000 UTCI kid you not, the minute I heard the soundtrack the first time. I was like C&A should absolutely watch this show. It gets even better in the next episode. The music elevates this series so wonderfully! Also I don't know if you guys have watched Pacific Rim the first movie (highly recommend!) but I heard that the opening visuals took a lot of inspiration from the kaiju drift that the movie talks about, plus the characters uniforms are inspired by the Jaeger pilot uniforms from the movie. I'm a huge fan of Pacific Rim so those little details made me love this show even more haha!
