The Legend of Korra Ep 1 REACTION!
Added 2024-08-24 11:17:36 +0000 UTC
We'll have ep 2 out tonight or tomorrow! We're not sure about the frequency of our Korra uploads but we really wanted to watch it considering how much we loved Avatar!
Yeah I feel you carlie it makes it sad knowing the gang has already have children but you always wondered what happened when they were adults. They must’ve been beasts during their prime.

The show is worth finishing. It has it's ups and downs. But trust me it is worth getting to the end!

sry if sum1 said this already or yall noticed, but theyre missin 1 of the writers, aaron ehaz or somethin like that? i do think that it has an impact on the writing, but the show itself wants n needs to be different than atla anyway so it works ::) FIRE fight choreo, AMAZING soundtrack, and just some cool ideas on expansion of worldbuilding and ideas ::D AND THE VILLAINS IN THIS SHOW?!?! quite menacing hehehe ok im done typing now lololol

Also Korra is the opposite of Aang, a tall strong woman who’s physically strong with a short temper in a time there they need somebody like Aang, vs Korra who probably wouldve been better against like Ozai or Combustion man since she would’ve “just pulled the plug”. Something like that

It’s a theory that the reincarnations of the avatar tend to look like the past life’s lover. Aang resembled Roku’s wife , Korra resembles Katara & so on.

I know other people have mentioned it, and I liked those messages to hopefully boost the chance of you seeing it, but I really want to make sure you guys see that this show was originally only greenlit for one season, and then season 2 was only greenlit for that season. Season 3 and 4 were greenlit together and it shows. In my opinion, it is not as good as ATLA, but nothing is, this is still a great series that deals with important themes and Korra's journey/character arc is a great one!

First and 3rd season are peak. I like the show, but it does have its ups and downs, but at its best is really great.

i am so glad to see this!! i personally enjoyed watching it, i think i'd say that it definitely is much more complex and more about societal issues which makes it more mature when compared to atla. hope u guys enjoy!

i will admit - i somewhat enjoyed korra the first watch, then really enjoyed it more the second watch. i think it was hard to separate it from atla during the first watch. still have some small and large complaints about korra but it's overall a nice watch!

Just some general heads up (no spoilers)
-Its refenced very passingly that Aang aged a bit faster due to his time in the iceberg. He dies naturally in his mid 60s
-Korra was orgionally done as a stand alone season so the first and second season are done without any plan for more to follow (just heads up in terms of some pacing)
Overall Korra is pretty amazing. Their is definitly some issues but nothing to the point that makes it not enjoyable. (season 2 characters can get a little rough in terms of some backtracking character growth but towards the end of the season they acknoladge it and into season 3 move past it comepletely)

personally i think season 1 was kinda a let down slightly due to being compared to atla but also how it was constructed. but season 2 really ramps it up and makes it its own show. i cant wait for more reactions

Just to answer some of your questions:
- Korra takes place 70 years after ATLA
- Aang died "young" but he was also frozen in an Iceberg for 100 years. Being in the Avatar state for that long definitely took a toll on his body so he died around the age of 60.
- I like how you noticed the main difference between Aang and Korra. As you can see from this episode, Korra WANTS to be the Avatar in a world that believes they dont need one. Aang didn't want to be the Avatar in a world that needed one.
- Believe it or not, majority of the people that dislike Korra at the time, didn't make it beyond baby Korra using 3 elements. Just want to throw it out there that theres a difference between using elements and mastering elements, but yeah despite how the rest of the series goes, Korra is definitely a physical prodigy.
- It was mentioned in the comics, but Oogi is a different species of Air Bison than Appa. They found a bunch of them after the 100 year war.
- I hope you guys stick with this. It's definitely a spiritual journey, one that's different from Aang's. I believe you will end up loving this show. Of course it's tough to follow up ATLA, but Korra good in its own right.

Korra has a very special place in my heart.
When I remember to, I'll add fun facts for your in regards to the show.
Fun Fact No.1 - Korra riding Naga is the first drawing of anything Avatar related. Before Last Airbender was even a concept, one of the two creators had a drawing of a girl in an eskimo outfit riding a polar bear, this would later be the foundation for the water tribe and eventually Korra.
The entire Avatar universe may never have come to be if it wasn't for this drawing.

Slight correction, after season 2, seasons 3 and 4 were green lit at the same time. That's why the story of those seasons are a bit more cohesive oppose to the endings of season 1 and 2 that feel very final.

It's sad that The Legend of Korra is held to the standard of Avatar the Last Air Bender, cause it's so good, but the bar was set sooooooo high.
It's a great show!

Yeah its a real bummer. Imagine trying to write a compelling narrative for this show when you are given less episodes, no guarantee it can go past a single season at a time and no help selling the show from the studio. Its truly a miracle it turned out as decent as it did. I am really excited for the future of Avatar stories too, hope they have complete creative freedom to give us peak fiction again 😭

Really I didn’t know that but it would explain why each season was its own story with a new villain each season instead of a continuing narrative with one villain like ATLA was. There supposed to be coming back with a new avatar show next year about the avatar after Korra and from what I read their gonna have a lot of creative freedom and financial backing when it comes to that show so maybe they won’t have to go through the same issues Korra had

Yea I agree even though I had a lot of criticism of the show personally that had nothing to do with ATLA I think a lot of the fans bash the show or don’t like it because their comparing it to ATLA which is to be expected since this is a sequel but like you said if you go into the show with a open mind it does have its flaws but for the most part it’s a decent show you can enjoy

Korra is way better than aang, I watched aang for over 20 years many times and just had to watch Korra once to decide, we get it they hype but don’t diss Korra

ATLA is definitely a tough act to follow, but if you guys go in with an open mind and try not to compare Korra(the show and person) to your memory Aang too much, I think it’s a really great show. The music does a fantastic job of capturing that nostalgic but somewhat fresh feel. The animation and choreography are top tier

This has probably been mentioned to you before but just incase….the creators of Korra were never guaranteed more than one season at a time while making this show, and this fact clearly hurts the continuing narrative. Hell they even stopped airing the final season on TV, thats how little effort the studio put into the show’s success smh…I believe knowing this going in sorta tempers the extremely high expectations that an Avatar sequel brought to all of us. It really could have been just as good, sadly it was never given the full chance 😭 For what it is though, i still very much enjoyed it, some seasons more than others. I love the themes explored in later seasons, especially about mental health. Hope you enjoy it :)

You’ll love korra. Maybe not as much as avatar but korra is a much more serious show in comparison. It’s lows are pretty low but imo it’s peaks surpass avatars.

Aang died young because he was frozen in ice for 100 years. Normally Avatars have longer lifespans. Technically Aang was in his 160s when he passed

You will love this show!
I think ATLA is one of the best series ever(not just animated)
But i think LoK is better!
A little bit less consistent in quality but when it's peak it's much better than ATLA
